Hypothetically speaking, if bitcoin "IPO'd" at $.05, what other publicly traded financial security has appreciated this much in terms of % gained?
any examples of a small/large cap stock or other commodity that has appreciated as much as bitcoin has? I keep telling people bitcoin began trading on exchanges at 0.05 and now it's worth over $400, but I dont know what publicly traded security or stock to compare it to.
I'll use NEOBEE's "IPVO" as an example: They released at .003 on September, 9th. BTC was roughly $140 on that date, making a share worth $.42. Obviously, today that share is worth considerably more. IPO share value is now worth $.90, with BTC around $300. If BTC/USD continues to rise, it seems very unlikely for NEOBEE's IPO to ever succeed, unless their stock value starts to really rise from successes in the company, hype, etc., OR BTC/USD starts to drop. Am I wrong about this?
With all the merger and acquisition activity going on in the tech industry, it may not hurt to change some of our vocabulary to sound more Wall Street-ish. This may help to ease the doubts of mainstreet. For example, the number of times I have heard "didn't they find the CEO of Bitcoin" or "didn't Bitcoin die in Japan?" is painful to listen to every time. People seem to condense facts into what they already know. For example, there is obviously no "CEO" of Bitcoin, but it is what people are used to hearing. Having an organization without a CEO just blows peoples minds. I recommend using terminology that would demonstrate corporate growth in the minds of the consumers. If they are going to be confused, might as well be confused in our favor. For example, we could say "Bitcoin acquired Dogecoin." Obviously this isn't possible. However advertising the fact "Bitcoin acquired Dogecoin" makes it seem like Bitcoin is growing in the average person's mind. It [Bitcoin] has a lot of money, it can buy its competitors! Facebook just bought WhatsApp, Apple just bought Beats. Bitcoin just bought Dogecoin. Bitcoin can also buy Coinbase or Bitpay or Circle. Anything would help to minimize the FUD. We could also say Bitcoin just finished its Series A funding. It makes it seem more Venture-Capital based. Wow! Venture Capital investors are investing in Bitcoin! (/bitcoin can be the VC's in this case). This wouldn't be lying to anyone, its just using some new terminology to mitigate FUD. We can also say Bitcoin is undergoing a "restructuring" after Mt.Gox. When Core 1.0 is ready to be realized, we can describe it as a restructuring plan being implemented. We don't want to be lying to people, however sometimes using certain marketing terms can help cast things in a different light. Did you hear? Bitcoin just spunoff Litecoin. AlliBaba just had an IPO. Bitcoin is going to have their IPO very soon too! Any Thoughts?
