Cryptocurrency technical analysis: cryptocurrency assets began the rally
Top crypto assets have been in an uptrend this week. One of the reasons for the growth was the positive dynamics in the US stock market. This was facilitated by the decision of the US Federal Reserve to continue the asset repurchase program in current volumes until March 2021. In addition, a number of news has influenced the digital asset market. So, on July 25, Chief Justice of the District Court of the District of Columbia Beryl Howell recognized bitcoin as a form of money and stated that the asset falls under the money laundering law. This decision was made during the $311 million laundering case, where the head of the Coin Ninja crypto project Larry Dean Harmon is the defendant.
Also since the beginning of the week, Bitcoin futures trading volumes have shown impressive growth, and the regulated crypto exchange Bakkt has reported closing of record high trading sessions. Also, significant support for the growth of the first cryptocurrency was provided by the massive closing of short positions, which were liquidated on July 28 for more than $500 million. And on July 29 it became known that the Central Bank of the Philippines is now participating in the race to launch the first national cryptocurrency. For this, a special committee will be created that will study the issue of launching the CBDC and the legal norms necessary for its work.

Bitcoin

After a rebound from support at $9150, bitcoin quotes easily overcame the $9500 level, which now also acts as support. The 200-day simple moving average (SMA) line passes in this area, as well as the boundaries of the technical analysis “Triangle” (they are marked in pink on the chart below). This allowed Bitcoin to reach the first goal in the form of cluster boundaries of $9,900- $10,000 and $10,400- $10,500.
Now the movement is taking place within the consolidation of $10,800- $11,300. In the coming weeks, maintaining the upward momentum will allow BTC quotes to rush to the following targets — $11,580 and $12,000. divergences ”between the highs on the chart and the MACD oscillator. If this scenario is realized, the targets will be the levels of $10,400 and $10,000. Further downward movement looks unlikely, but may lead to a retest of the $9,500- $9,600 area, where whales will most likely prefer to gain new positions in bitcoin.

BTC / USD chart, four-hour timeframe
On the daily chart of Bitcoin, you can see that there was a breakthrough of the boundaries of the technical analysis model “Triangle” (in the chart below they are marked in orange). From the point of view of technical analysis, a retest of the upper border of this figure should follow in the near future. This can lead to a decrease in the price from the current resistances of $11,000 and the cluster $11,200- $11,300 back to the supports at $10,500 and $10,000. If this scenario is implemented, there is also a chance of Bitcoin falling to the important cluster of $8900 (50% retracement at Fibonacci levels) — $9580.
The presence of divergence between the BTC price and the MACD oscillator indicates a high probability of a correction. But at what levels this reversal will occur is not yet known. But until the end of this year, the first cryptocurrency is ready to maintain its growth trend, which can lead to reaching $11,800, $12,500, a cluster of $13,100- $13,350 and $14,000.

BTC / USD chart, daily timeframe

Ethereum

Altcoins went up after bitcoin. The ether also shows good growth, the quotes of which continue to confidently rise from the support at $233, below which the 200-day SMA line is located. After overcoming the first target at $280, the ether rushed to the next targets located at the resistance levels of $300 and $320.
Now the ETH quotes have returned to the framework of the “Flag” graphical model, which can reduce the volatility of the asset. At the same time, a correctional decline below $320 will allow big capital to gain positions. The support levels will be $300, $280 and $251. The targets for the development of a long-term upward movement are $363.80, $400 and $420.

ETH / USD chart, daily timeframe

Litecoin

On the daily chart, Litecoin confidently maintains a positive momentum, which led to a breakout of the boundaries of the Descending Triangle technical analysis model. The upward breakout of the $47.45 level, just above which the 200-day moving average (MA) line is located, allowed LTC to go to the targets of $51.50 (38.2% correction level along the Fibonacci lines) and $56.80.
In the medium term, further upward movement may develop to $60.80, $65, $70 and even $83. However, in the event of a correction from the current levels, the whales are likely to gain positions only at the previously tested levels of $50 and $51.50.

LTC / USD chart, daily timeframe

Bitcoin Cash

Bitcoin Cash, as expected, soared from the borders of the “Triangle” price model (on the chart below the borders are marked with pink lines) to the resistance located at the upper border of the “Horizontal Channel” $200- $272. Then the altcoin continued its way to the $305 area.
A correction may develop towards the 200-day SMA line, which is located in the $272 area. But in the long run of the coming months, we can expect a breakout of the $305 level, which will allow Bitcoin Cash to go up to the $356- $368 cluster and further to $400.

BCH / USDT chart, daily timeframe

XRP

XRP also took advantage of an influx of liquidity, which led to the breakout of the boundaries of the Descending Triangle model. This allowed the asset to break through the boundaries of the “horizontal channel” of $0.18- $0.2050, in the area of which the 200-day MA line passes. As a result, XRP reached its first targets at $0.2360 and $0.2540.
In the long term, the bulls will be able to take profits at $0.27, $0.2860 and $0.3080. At the same time, the levels of $0.2040, $0.2360 and $0.2540 in the event of a correction can act as supports for the current XRP quotes.

XRP / USD chart, daily timeframe

Binance Coin

Binance Coin also did not fail to take advantage of the market situation to break through the resistance in the form of the upper boundary of the “Ascending Triangle” and the level of $18.14. This allowed us to start the long-awaited growth towards the first target in the form of a powerful $19.36– $20 cluster. Maintaining this momentum in the months ahead will lead to the achievement of targets at $21.30, $23.50, $25.80 and $28.20.
But before that, the asset may wait for a correction to the levels of $19.36 and $18, where the 200-day SMA line is located.

BNB / USDT chart, daily timeframe
At the end of this week, we can confidently say that another rally has begun among crypto assets. Moreover, it occurs before the start of the correctional decline on the world stock markets, which some investors warn about. Thus, the cryptocurrency market is becoming a new safe haven for whales, which have preferred to accumulate positions since March. We will not be surprised if this upward movement will last more than one month.

Why does WaykiChain (WICC) soar after the start of 2020? With the advent of the bull market, how does WaykiChain perfect their Defi ecosystem and occupy the market?

As a world’s leading blockchain company focused on blockchain’s underlying technology and related ecosystem technology, WaykiChain owns an industry-leading public chain. Relying on the inherent technical advantages of blockchain and its superior R&D strength, WaykiChain is empowered with high-performance transaction processing capabilities (TPS3300), efficient mechanism of consensus (DPoS + pBFT), powerful smart contract, as well as the blockchain ecological decentralized control ability, WaykiChain can provide various major industries and key areas of vertical industry with infrastructure services and industry solutions.
At present, the bottom layer of the WaykiChain public chain has been continuously upgraded and optimized and has achieved significant success. WaykiChain stablecoin WUSD, which is developed on the bottom of the public chain, is one of the important infrastructures of blockchain finance promoted by WaykiChain. It is also continuously improving the potential of decentralized business development.
At 20:00 on February 14th, at the invitation of the “Bull Market Sharing Class”, Gordon Gao, the Co-Founder, and CEO of WaykiChain, made sharing of the theme “ Why does WaykiChain (WICC) soar after the start of 2020? With the advent of the bull market, how does WaykiChain perfect their Defi ecosystem and occupy the market?”
Gordon Gao Background: Gordon Gao, WaykiChain Co-Founder & CEO, an Alumni of Columbia University in New York, former Chief Data Scientist of Fishbowl in Wall Street, ex-Senior Data Analyst of Alibaba Group, a senior member of Mensa International Club, currently serves as WaykiChain CEO. He is responsible for offering support to WaykiChain commercial model designing and strategy planning, building up a digitalized monitor system for products and operation and promoting WaykiChain overseas market with his international background.
The Following is the content of sharing from Gordon Gao:
1.WaykiChain is a third-generation blockchain commercial public chain that aims to build a world-leading public chain brand. How does the performance of WaykiChain compare to other public chains on the market?
Gordon Gao: In terms of performance, WaykiChain’s TPS ranks first with a measured average of 3300 in the world. Besides, our ecological construction in the DApp field and Defi is also gradually perfect. Last year, we introduced more than 20 DApps. Since WaykiChain has launched the Defi platform, it has collateralized over 24 million WICC and issued over USD 1.4 million in WUSD.
2. Recently, WaykiChain(WICC) is well received by Korean investors, and its trading volume has exceeded 70 billion WON. How does WaykiChain achieve such outstanding results?
Gordon Gao: When WaykiChain(WICC) was listed on Bithumb, WICC’s premium was three times the domestic price. Recent market conditions are very good. The maximum price in South Korea is up to 10 times the domestic price.
Our investment in the Korean market has always been very large. As early as 2018 May, WaykiChain Global Conference which was attracted thousands of persons to participate was successfully held in Seoul. After that, we did a lot of publicity around the Korean market, such as the content promotion and SEO promotion of their NAVER search engine. Last year, we also held WaykiChain(WICC) X Huobi Korea Hackathon and offline meetup in South Korea. I have also been invited three times to give speeches and conducting exhibitions at Korean blockchain conferences. And our CTO Richard Chen was invited to interview with the Korean media, which was broadcast by Korean KBS TV station. South Korean users are very impressed with WaykiChain. When WaykiChain held the Hackathon in South Korea last year, a Korean investor came over and told us that he also came to our conference in 2018 and also received gold bars. He told us he was very happy to see our development so that he came to support us this time. When we have this kind of market enthusiasm, it is not unusual for prices to be reflected in the exchange.
3. According to media reports, WaykiChain has a strong technical team and has made a lot of progress in technology development. It has planned a four-public chain version iteration plan. What innovations and breakthroughs has WaykiChain achieved in technology?
Gordon Gao: The current version is WaykiChain public chain v2.0 version (Teng version) that we updated in October last year. We added the decentralized exchange and developed a CDP system at the bottom of the public chain for pledging WICC to get stablecoin WUSD. We developed a 3-token economy model (WICC, WUSD, WGRT) and increased the speed of block generation from 10 seconds per block to 3 seconds per block, which greatly improving user experience. This version lays the foundation for us to achieve decentralized financial functions, and directly implements the three most important functions of Defi at the moment: stablecoin, lending, and DEX.
We are developing the public chain v3.0 version (Hu version) now. In the public chain v3.0 version, we will further improve the performance and scalability of the current decentralized exchange, allowing anyone to publish their own DEX on the chain. Meanwhile, we will introduce WASM to greatly improve the performance and developer-friendly of the virtual machine.
At the same time, in the next public chain version, we will soon launch the WASM virtual machine, which greatly improves the performance of the virtual machine and makes it developer-friendly. Porting virtual machine is a project with high technical difficulty. We learned that several projects ranked among the top 30 in market value are also developing WASM virtual machines. It took us several months to complete the porting of WASM, which fully demonstrates our technical strength. In addition, in the next version, we will provide a decentralized cross-chain solution so that more digital assets can operate in the WaykiChain Defi eco-system.
4. We all know that WaykiChain has conducted in-depth reciprocal visits with the Montenegro government and exchanged views on blockchain technology reform in the field of Montenegro International Trade and Finance. What new knowledge and experiences have you gained through international cooperation? How do these experiences inspire you to give WaykiChain more business value and promote the implementation of decentralized financial applications?
Gordon Gao: Firstly, the government thinks differently from ours. For example, we only consider whether a business model can improve efficiency and reduce costs, but the government will also consider how to coordinate all stakeholders and make a balance. We discussed the issuance of stablecoins with them. If stablecoins are controlled by the central bank and all are on the chain, then the commercial banks below the central bank will not be able to adopt the original method. If addition, currency is issued through leverage, this is a weakening of existing stakeholders and it is difficult to continue. So, both of us are still exploring better solutions, and strive to not only improve efficiency through the blockchain but also meet all existing stakeholders.
Moreover, there is also a shortage of technical talents and human resources in some European countries and regions. They welcome Chinese blockchain teams like us to export technology and solutions to them. This is a very good opportunity for WaykiChain and other Chinese blockchain teams.
Thirdly, the cheap money policy of the European Central Bank can cause huge interest rate differences between European and Asian currencies. This contains huge market space and business opportunities, and the Defi system aims at this.
5. WaykiChain will complete the cross-chain process of BTC and ETH in the first half of 2020, and the mortgage lending system through stablecoin will be launched simultaneously. It is expected that there will be a new round of explosive growth around WUSD’s Pre-IPO business and loans. What is WUSD and what are its uses?
Gordon Gao: WaykiChain WUSD, the first stablecoin developed on Core Layer of the public chain, is issued through over-collateralization with value anchored to USD.
WUSD is the cornerstone of the WaykiChain Defi system. WUSD can be cashed in USDT or fiat currency. In other words, users can pledge their WICC to borrow cash. This principle is the same as a loan from a bank. WUSD can buy WICC or WGRT (governance coin) in WaykiChain DEX. This means that giving leverage to those who hold WaykiChain coins. WUSD can also be used in WaykiChain ecological applications. For example, Huatong Securities provides brokerage services on HK and US stocks to global customers with its unique WUSD-based payment solution which means that opening up the digital currency and traditional financial channels. Also, recently, we plan to launch a new application just like bank demand loans. Users can buy WUSD as wealth management. Of course, there will be derivatives based on WUSD pricing in the future.
6. “Building a decentralized big platform and ecology through community autonomy” is the original intention of WaykiChain, and this is also the big vision of WaykiChain. What difficulties has WaykiChain encountered in building a globally decentralized consensus? How did you overcome these difficulties?
Gordon Gao: At the beginning, we only divided the domestic market and overseas markets. The main job of overseas markets is to publish articles and contents which achieved very little success. The language, culture, social platforms, per capita income, and the cognition level of cryptocurrency vary from country to country. And if we only use online communication, the information is too fragmented to help others understand your project in depth.
After continuous experimentation, we decided to adopt the mode of offline(entering)-online(maintenance). We organized offline meetups and recruited WaykiChain Global Ambassadors. And then, we transferred to online maintenance, which has achieved success.
Now we have organized 10 meetups with our global ambassadors, and have established telegram groups in nearly 20 countries and regions, including South Korea, Iran, Japan, Vietnam, Turkey, Indonesia, and the Philippines, with high daily engagements. The last time I did AMA in our Iranian group, the local media asked some very professional questions which show our Iranian fans have in-depth knowledge of our project. Now, WaykiChain team brings people from different countries to work together and becomes more international.
7. WaykiChain ranks first with a measured average TPS of 3300 (Measured Peak TPS 7800). And WaykiChain launched WUSD which is developed on the bottom layer of the public chain. What convenience and value will this bring to payment and commerce?
Gordon Gao: The Defi system that WaykiChain is going to achieve is a decentralized bank without borders
In daily life, most people go to the bank to do deposits, loans, exchange, buy financial products and so on. These functions are also available on WaykiChain and users can enjoy lower interest rates.
The average deposit rate in Europe is between 0 and 0.3%. However, if we launch the new application of WUSD, Europeans can use fiat currency to buy WUSD and then gain at least 3 points of interest. This part of the interest comes from the mortgage interest paid by the mortgage borrower to the system. This part may be can achieve 6 points or more. In this way, the system also earns a cut of the discount. So, this is a three-win business.
Defi is a business model that enables blockchain companies to truly implement possible commercial application scenarios. For example, Huatong Securities provides brokerage services on HK and US stocks to global customers with its unique WUSD-based payment solution Ordinary people are difficult to open an account to trade Hong Kong stocks in HK exchanges. However, now users can use WUSD to trade and invest HK/US Pre-IPO to make money. The HK Pre-IPO market now has an annualized income of 20–40% on average. Therefore, many people in the WaykiChain community now pledge WICC to generate WUSD and use WUSD to buy Hong Kong and US stocks to make new money. It can not only enjoy the potential appreciation space of WICC but also improve capital utilization.
8. WaykiChain has established a 3-token economic model (WICC / WUSD / WGRT) with more financial stability and scalability. Please introduce this model to us. What are the advantages of the WaykiChain 3-token economic model compared to the common single-token economic model?
Gordon Gao: As the base currency of Defi, WUSD is a stablecoin that is just needed in the investment market for deposits and loans. At the same time, WUSD can also be used as a payment tool, which is much more convenient than using other digital currencies with large volatility.
WaykiChain (WGRT) is our governance coins. All interest generated from borrowing WUSD and the liquidation penalty will be repurchased on the market to destroy WGRT. We don’t use WICC because if we use WICC, it means that the collateralized currency and the risk-proof currency are the same types. This model is the same as the model of BTS. The BTS black swan event has verified that this economic model does not work. Therefore, the emergence of governance coins is inevitable.
9. 2019 can be called “the year of Defi loans”, and 2020 will be the “year of Defi derivatives”, so how will DeFi develop in 2020? What is WaykiChain’s strategy?
Gordon Gao: Defi is definitely still a hot topic in the blockchain industry in 2020. From Huobi BTC(HBTC) which is released by Huobi, it can also be seen that exchanges that do centralized finance are also developing Defi. Loans and deposits are still rigid demands in the market.
Although derivatives have huge business opportunities, their outbreak in the Defi field may not be so fast. Because the market capability and liquidity of Defi are still limited. In addition, cryptocurrency enthusiasts have limited knowledge of derivatives. Now, Defi obviously still has some opportunities and the market is not occupied. For example, Bitcoin-based Defi has not yet been implemented. Of course, the emergence of HBTC promoted the development of Bitcoin-based Defi. However, its specific effects need time to verify. Moreover, Other public chain projects are still in the process of developing Defi. At present, only Ethereum’s Defi business has formed a certain scale, and WaykiChain might be the second-largest Defi platform which is developed on the public chain after Ethereum. Some users from WaykiChain do not own Ethereum, but if they own WaykiChain (WICC), they can also do collateralizing.
Since WaykiChain has launched the Defi platform, it has collateralized over 24 million WICC and issued over USD 1.4 million in WUSD. WaykiChain’s strategy in Defi is mainly to satisfy both supply and demand. Firstly, we will continue to increase the amount of WICC total collateral and expand the issuance of WUSD. Secondly, we will keep working hard to expand and develop commercial application scenarios of WUSD. Finally, we will keep innovating and explore more new products and technology. WaykiChain will continuously make contributions in the world blockchain industry with its leading specialization.

Introducing Rebit.ph: Sending money to the Philippines using Bitcoin has never been more convenient or more affordable.

As of 2013, an estimated 12 Million of Filipinos live and work abroad, sending $23 BILLION USD annually back home to their loved ones. This is a staggering number: more than 10% of the entire population. Majority of them have low paying jobs and send almost every penny they earn back home to support entire families. The fact that remittance fees are very high is not a coincidence: legacy money transmitting services make an absolute killing because people simply don't have much of a choice. Basically, it is an oligarchy of giant companies that keep the rates high for maximum profit at the expense of hard working Filipinos abroad.
This is where we believe Bitcoin can be a game-changer. Not only can we cut down those fees and rates, we can now allow sending what would be considered impossibly small amounts of money using traditional methods. Today's reality is that if you are sending less than $125 USD to the Philippines, you are going to pay 10% or more in fees and exchange rates. Not with Bitcoin. Sending $50 or even $25 internationally is now possible, and will not cost an arm and a leg.
We developed www.Rebit.ph to make this a reality, and make Bitcoin simple and easy to use for sending money here. First of all, the company is run by a local team of trusted Filipino entrepreneurs that have at least five decades worth of experience in doing business in the Philippines. If you are a Filipino abroad, you can rest assured you won't be sending money to a faceless site established three days ago. We are also the same team behind Satoshi Citadel Industries, Bitmarket.ph, Bitstars.ph, and are heavily invested in a long term bitcoin solution for the Philippine economy.
For Rebit.ph, we are working on future solutions to the fiat conversion on the receiving end as we forge partnerships with other companies that can complement our service by, for example, allowing users to have debit cards that make the withdrawal of Bitcoin to fiat as frictionless and painless as possible. We also brought the first of many Bitcoin ATMs in the Philippines too support this infrastructure. There are plans to partner with Bitcoin companies all over the world to make it as easy as possible for users to acquire Bitcoin as well.
This won't be just a "buzzword" remittance solution but a real company that will concentrate on tackling a real problem in the Philippines. We will be providing a fully supported infrastructure and are looking at a long term and viable remittance solution using Bitcoin in our country.
So far, after doing extensive research on existing remittance fees and rates, we were able to lower the cost of using our service to make it the most inexpensive way to send money to the Philippines, given that you already have Bitcoin or have access to Bitcoins. One important thing that we are doing with Rebit.ph is that we will not be making money off of the USD to Peso exchange rate and will be using the fairest published rate available in the market. This is where remittance companies make a killing, charging around 2.5% to convert your money on the average. We are also making it a point that we are 100% transparent when it comes to our fees and charges, even offering direct comparisons with other remittance companies for everyone to see.
We also know that what we are doing now is a temporary solution. Combined with our other Bitcoin ventures in the Philippines like Bitmarket.ph, we're hoping to close that loop in using Bitcoin to send money across borders. The end game would be that people receiving money will not need to cash out but be able to use the Bitcoin they receive to purchase goods, pay bills, and buy necessities. This is something that will take time, so for now, we're offering what we think is the best way to send money to the Philippines using Bitcoin with Rebit.ph.
Please feel free to comment, suggest, or criticize if needed. We'd love to improve this service and hear feedback. Fellow Filipinos who are working abroad, don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We would love to hear from you.
TL;DR: You can now send Bitcoin to the Philippines, and your family receives Pesos as fast and at the lowest cost possible.

A more detailed look into Localbitcoins.com data

TL;DR
Localbitcoins.com did 34,000 BTC a week ago, spread out over ~50 local currencies. Check out the graphs!
Summary
Last week I did a short analysis on trades at Localbitcoins.com (LBTC). I wasn't satisfied with the incomplete data Bitcoincharts.com gave me and decided to delve a bit deeper, with some nice data and graphs as a result!
Problem
LBTC doesn't publicly summarize their own statistics, they only provide historical trade data via their API. Bitcoincharts.com does a decent summary but only for ~15 currencies. Big LBTC currencies like CNY are not listed there.
Questions
The questions I wanted answered from LBTC's API was:
Approach
So to get a complete picture I sharpened my Python skills and went straight into the LBTC API myself, scraping all currencies I could find and summing the numbers on a weekly basis, starting at 11 march 2013 (the start of LBTC trading).
My aggregates differ from Bitcoincharts as I believe they take a different weekly cutoff point. As of right now, their new week with timestamp "2015-06-15" has already started even though in GMT terms it's still 2015-06-14. (My next week starts at 2015-06-15 00:00 UTC which I believe is in line with GMT?) In that light, the week isn't over yet, so my data will seem incomplete.
To calculate total Fiat volume, I calculated the weighted USD price per BTC on LBTC and applied it to every currency. This is not ideal, however since USD accounts for over 50% of all LBTC trades, it's close enough. Note that the LBTC price per BTC is usually 5-10% higher than on centralized exchanges.
Data
Summary Graphs
I was going to write something interesting, but a picture says a thousand words:
The top 5 currencies (USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, RUB) account for roughly 80% of LBTC's volume. What's interesting though is that smaller currencies are growing rapidly:
Interesting currencies
Here are some interesting currencies that are trading on LBTC and not visible on Bitcoincharts.com:
Conclusion
I don't know how trustworthy LBTC is as a source. All I can say is, if it's data is valid, we're only at the beginning of global BTC acceptance -- which of course doesn't mean the growth we see now is going to continue.
I'm personally very excited to see hard numbers for Kenya, Philippines, Ukraine, Venezuela etc. etc. even though those numbers are still very small.
Thanks for your attention!
Edited for layout
Edit2 Thanks everyone for the kind remarks and generous tips, true gentlepeople all around! I will try to update the data now and then, but don't take my word for it :)

r/bitcoin recap - February 2017

Hi again everyone!
You gave me fantastic feedback on the first monthly recap last month, so of course I made another one for February.
For those unfamiliair, each day (usually around the same time), I pick out the most popularelevant/interesting stories in bitcoin and save them, after which I release them in one batch after the month ends. This gives you a quick (but not necessarily the best) overview of what happened in bitcoin over the past month.
This month I’m making 2 changes:
  1. I’m removing links in the Reddit post, to prevent it from getting auto-moderated like last month. I will link to all the respective reddit posts (so you can see discussion too) on the web version instead. version with links
  2. As #1 gave away, I launched a website to permanently store these things. Unfortunately it is not live yet, as my hosting provider is taking forever to deal with the DNS nameservers. As you can imagine, I’m currently best friends with their customer support, as I really wanted to have the site up before posting today. To deal with this for now, I made a post on my personal site instead until I get the new site up and running. I hope people aren’t too fussed about that.
Anyways let’s get to the recap. Let me know if you think I missed something!
A recap of February 2017 in bitcoin
Thank you to everyone who is contributing to this exciting space!
Personal note:
I’ve seen more constructive discussions over the past month than in January, let’s keep that up. We should avoid sinking to the level of insults and focus on continuously correcting misinformation. You will never convince people that your approach is favourable by insulting them, but you might if you show them that not everyone on the “other side” is malicious, as they’re made out to be. Our perception of how Bitcoin should develop is simply different. Let’s create understanding, not a rift.
Now let's March!

Full Review

At a glance

ICON is creating a massive scale ecosystem, allowing different blockchains connecting to one another through their protocol. Universities, security firms, banks, hospitals and other private blockchains can all share information through ICON's online ledger without intermediaries.
ICON can also bridge public blockchains such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Qtum, and NEO. It is a completely different blockchain at the protocol level, meaning that it is not based off of an existing protocol such as Ethereum. ICON uses its own proprietary LFT (Loop Fault Tolerant) consensus algorithm, here is a brief introduction of LFT,
LFT (Loop Fault Tolerance) is an enhanced BFT (Byzantine Fault Tolerance)32-based algorithm that promotes faster consensus and ensures the finality of the consensus without the possibility of forks within the network. LFT supports faster consensus by creating a group among trusted nodes. LFT can accommodate diverse consensus structure by allowing such groups or nodes to freely determine the number of votes.
ICON is not a from scratch project, it is based off of loopchain, a distributed ledger that provides industry specific blockchain solutions. Theloop has partnered with leading financial institutions, offering services such as common authentication system, settlement systems without intermediary agencies, and trading systems that offer real time trade matching. Loopchain also works with insurance industry, to automate its insurance claims and payments. The project has been running strong and solid for well over 2 years. ICON will further expand loopchain's capabilities by bridging existing blockchains, as well as introducing its own ICX token. An ICX token can be viewed similar to ETH, in that it will be served as an utility token that can be spent and transfer value within the ICON ecosystem; furthermore, ICX tokens will eventually be used as the currency for ICON based ICOs. ICON will also provide its own DEX (Decentralized Exchange), where ICX can be used as a trading pair. It is expected to be launched Q4 of 2017.
The core of ICON called Nexus, is a multi-channel blockchain comprised of light client of respective blockchain. It is based off of loopchain, testnet is already launched and mainnet is expected to launch in Q4 of 2017. Native ICX wallets for each platform will also launch around the same time.
South Korea is ranked top 5 in ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) and the 11th largest economy in the world. South Koreans also have immense interest in the crypto space, where daily trading account for ~20-40% of total global volume. Most consider cryptocurrencies as an investment vehicle rather than payment solution or functional blockchain platforms. It'll be interesting to see when one of their own public blockchain introduced in the country, how sectors from different industries come up with new use cases, and actual form of payment adapted by end consumers.
If you really want to label ICON, what it is comparable to today, some think of it as the NEO of Korea, some think its a spin-off of Ark. The most accurate version, this is also mentioned by several ICON team members that it is more like a combination of Cosmos and Ethereum.
ICON ICO is hardcapped at 150,000 ETH in presale and crowdsale (~40 million USD as of this writing), a relative modest fund raise given today's ICO standards. This also account for 50% of total supply, again a fair amount given out, rest goes to reserve, team, and partners and foundation. The presale will be divided into 3 stages, where in each round a cap is set for each individual. Starting at 30 ETH, 100 ETH then finally 1000 ETH. This is to ensure smaller investors get a chance to join the network, rather than whales jumping in early to manipulate the prices. If the hardcap is reached in the presale, there won't be a public crowdfunding.

Team Pedigree

ICON team is stacked with talents, currently with around 20-30 engineers and designers who graduated from top universities in South Korea and overseas. Business development team who worked for top tier investment companies like JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank. It appears that most of the team members are fluent in English, so they'll be able to collaborate with world's leading intelligence in the open source blockchain communities.

Bitspark Detailed Roadmap 2018

source: https://steemit.com/bitshares/@bitspark/bitspark-detail-roadmap-2018
Welcome to Bitspark's official roadmap update. Following the Zephyr tokensale, we posted an initial roadmap here outlining some of our goals and timelines. Now we are following up with a more detailed roadmap and the reasoning behind the decisions we have made. In this roadmap the specificity we can go into will be Quarters, with estimated based on 2018.

Expected Outcome of the Zephyr Project:

A cash in, cash out remittance network enabling anyone anywhere in the world to send and receive money instantly via physical money transfer shops, for virtually free powered by the Bitshares network and supported by pegged Bitshares Smartcoins (MPAs) all incentivised by the Zephyr rewards system.
Step 1: End of Q2 2018
Firstly, adding ZEPH to Spark (Spark is the product name for the Bitspark remittance platform) is not as simple as running a Bitshares node, adding a new currency in our system and letting people buy and sell orders on Spark. Bitspark is a remittance company, we have transactions and commitments for money transfer businesses already and we need to ensure anything we do is competitive to our existing Bitcoin based system and will not disrupt company operations for a smooth transition. If we switched everything to Bitshares tomorrow our payout partners who currently settle in bitcoin cannot easily settle the local fiat in Bitshares, therefore we would not be able to transact and the business would grind to a halt meaning no money transfers could take place until our partners at the other end make the switch. So it is imperative that there is a time period in which we make the transition, initially we said at the time of our tokensale the switch will take 12 months and that is still correct but in the meantime we are building a hybrid approach to ensure we can route transactions in both the old and new system at the same time.
The Hybrid approach
When a transactions comes in today in GBP in Spark, we convert to BTC and sell that BTC for fiat in the destination currency like IDR, HKD, VND etc. This happens instantly and because its bitcoin there is an active GBP/BTC as well as BTC/VND markets and deep liquidity through brokers. If this were executed on BitGBP today there is not enough liquidity there yet to support it so it wouldn’t be viable, eventually there will be and Spark will be the one bringing the liquidity. However right now we are building a system that we can easily switch order routing between either the old way (via BTC) or the new way (via Bitshares) depending on the size of the transaction and the means in which the partner in the destination wants to receive settlement. The idea here is to over time move the goalposts on what will require a switch or not, as we build up more liquidity in Bitshares (this happens everytime a remit happens essentially, so more remittances = more Bitshares liquidity) we can ensure more and more transactions get routed via Bitshares, eventually hitting a point where the old system is turned off. The threshold for switching will be based upon transaction size, and competitiveness in terms of total cost. If bitshares is the best way to move $200 between currencies (e.g. bitUSD/bitJPY) then we will use that, otherwise we will default to the old system. We think this can happen in a matter of weeks or months fairly easily.
For our partners who currently take BTC for settlement, the hybrid approach even with the old method will still utilise Bitshares, however we will be trading smartcoins for Bitcoin UIAs. If we used any of the existing BTC UIA gateways (Openledger, Cryptobridge, Rudex) the withdrawal times for BTC are unpredictable, for example with some Bitshares gateways it can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 days to receive a payout from withdrawing your UIA via a Gateway. That's not good enough for us to be able to utilise for remittances where everything is expected to be instant. We therefore are creating our own gateway for BTC (and other coins) so we know what we can depend upon and the infrastructure is owned by us and we are therefore not at the whim of a third party. This is why the creation of the Spark DEX Gateway is important as the hybrid approach we will still need to convert say BitUSD into BTC somehow in order to deliver BTC to our partners in Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Nigeria etc. We will do this on the Bitspark gateway.
Spark is bringing new money that is not currently in Bitshares, into bitshares, therefore over time this new liquidity will provide a solid base for us to transact solely via Bitshares pegged cryptocurrencies. We will be the buyer in the markets for various pegged smartcoins so if traders want to create the smartcoins Bitspark will always be there willing to buy at slightly over the market price.
Step 2: Rollout in Production End of Q3 2018
We aim to at the end of Q3 2018 have a newly designed and fully functioning remittance platform integrated with Bitshares and ZEPH. This means the newly designed web remittance platform is live in usage in production and it enables anyone from anywhere in the world to sign up and become an agent in the Spark remittance network. We will have integrated the main committee issued smartcoins at this stage but Bitspark issued smartcoins will likely need to wait until Q4. We intend to have ZEPH integration ready in Sendy at this stage and the ability to convert to/from other currencies within Sendy although the web platform is the higher priority than Sendy at this stage. This is perhaps the hardest milestone but the core functionality of the Zephyr project will be available at the end of Q3 with future developments to be on enhancing and iterating on feedback from this release.
Step 3: Incentivisation kicks in End of Q4 2018
Zeph rewards are part of all incentives as any fee paid on any transaction in Spark (sending money, topping up a balance) therefore as we ramp up traction on Bitshares and remittance transaction more buybacks happen on ZEPH.
It is however also important to note there are additional incentives we can expose to customers to incentivise uptake of the Spark remittance platform and thereby increase ZEPH transactions. In order for the world to go cashless with crypto there needs to be locations to exchange the cash at, into and out of crypto- these locations are Spark remittance agents (businesses) or mobile topup agents. We are calling this the Decentralised cash to crypto network for now.
Being a Portal
One of the problems money transfer agents have is all over the world they are being ‘de-risked’ by banks. This means banks are closing their bank accounts often for no reason other than the bank is no longer wanting to provide an account to that type of business, this often means the money transfer business who relies on a bank at some stage to send money goes out of business as they can no longer transact. This leads to further consolidation in the market with the big companies who have special deals with banks gaining market share at the expense of the smaller operators. The only way to fix this globally in a reliable manner is to remove the need for a bank in the first place and operate with what money transfer businesses already know and understand, cash.
There are two main issues money transfer agents have when dealing with cash:
Usually a money transfer agent would deposit cash at a bank or receive payment of money from their platform provider to their bank account. But if the MTO needs to operate without a bank they need a solution to the cash problem, enter Spark.
We aim to complete functionality to enable Bitspark remittance shops to be cash in/out locations for crypto by the end of Q4. When shops can exchange the cash they have on hand for crypto this enables them to deposit crypto (value) to Bitspark remotely without the need for a bank. They can now use this cryptocurrency in their Spark account to transact and this cryptocurrency could be BitUSD, BitCNY, Bitshares, Bitcoin or any other crypto. Likewise if a shop has a large digital balance in Spark and needs cash, they can exchange it directly with someone for cash, reducing their digital balance and receiving cash again without a bank.
But why would someone visit a Spark shop to exchange cash/crypto? Because they will make money. Whenever an exchange takes place the shop will be free to set a price they are willing to exchange it at which will always be better than the market rate (essentially its a fee they will pay to alleviate them from the burdens of having a bank). If a Spark shop has 100 bitUSD they need converted to cash, they can offer to exchange it for $99 in cash. The purchaser with cash then will get 100 bitUSD and only paid $99 in cash locking in a 1% profit. The same is true for the reverse, with the shop exchanging $100 in cash for 101 bitUSD. This ensures a market is established to ‘liquidate’ the balances of Spark shops of which ZEPH rewards are also tied to.
To read more about balance liquidation mechanics read Bitspark’s $ZEPH whitepaper. [https://bitspark.io/investors]
Market Making Bots
Spark also intends to develop and maintain an open source trading bot for the Bitshares DEX. The reasoning behind this is simple, more liquidity is better for Spark making transactions. Currently there is an exciting project on Bitshares called DEXbot which is open source and funded by a worker proposal. We look forward to working with the DEXbot team in whatever capacity is best, this might be either contributing to the DExbot project directly or forking it, keeping it open source and developing it separately. The decision for this will be made closer to development beginning on this milestone.
The Tajikistan Project
Bitspark is working with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to bring the Spark Platform and Sendy App to Tajikistan to service the vital money transfer industry in the country.
As an update, Tajikistan UNDP is undergoing training facilitated by Bitspark about cryptocurrency, how it works and improving deeper understanding about Bitspark’s plans for the pilot. Since the teams last visit, Bitspark has been lucky enough to have key players engaging with Project Zephyr ranging from government and financial institutions who will endeavour to see this project into fruition. In the course of this, we are learning that larger organisations have their own pace. As time moves on, with our other milestones met, we are considering actively driving this solely ourselves there regardless.
This completes Bitspark’s detailed roadmap for now. We hope this works as a guide to keep everyone in the loop as to our current development efforts and of course this roadmap may change if it is necessary to do so. Bitspark is excited to continue as we have since the company’s token sale to complete the necessary steps to remove barriers to cryptocurrency mass adoption and fulfil the broader mission statement of making a decentralised network of crypto + cash enabled agents all over the world.

Bitwage Releases Bitcoin Payroll for the Individual. Live your life in Bitcoin, with or without your Employer.

Bitwage Releases Bitcoin Payroll for the Individual, BP(i) and Enters Beta.
Ways to spend Bitcoin have been growing rapidly since 2013 (Overstock, Gyft, TigerDirect, Expedia and soon PayPal, etc). However, ways of getting Bitcoins have not been growing as quickly, creating a downward pressure on the price of Bitcoin at the online exchanges and little demand for said merchants. There is quite a bit of friction involved in buying Bitcoin from an exchange, with lots of personal information and wait time required. How can we expect mainstream adoption with such high barriers to entry?
*Enter Bitwage Payroll. *
Earning Bitcoin during your day job minimizes friction of on-boarding, while at the same time reducing the number of steps and commission spreads. With Bitwage, there is now an easy way to obtain Bitcoins with Zero-Click Bitcoin Payrolls. We at Bitwage recognize that implementing Bitcoin Payroll may not be at the top of every employer’s list, leaving many who wish to receive a portion of their pay in Bitcoin wanting. This is why we are happy to announce that:
Bitwage Releases Bitcoin Payroll for the Individual, BP(i) as of November 3rd
Bitwage allows anyone, regardless of how big or small, Bitcoin-friendly or Bitcoin-hostile their employer is, to be able to receive a Bitcoin wage. If your employer offers direct deposits, there is no need to evangelize the employer about Bitcoin. Just switch to a bank account that happens to be Bitcoin-friendly. No need to go all-in to Bitcoin. Convert as much or as little of your paycheck to Bitcoin as you want, say 10%.
This is a FREE Private Beta. Sign up at https://www.bitwage.co to get started!
In addition, the Bitwage solution will allow for employees and employers alike to create their capital gains reports and file them through our partnership with Gocheto Financials with just a few clicks.
So what are some of the implications of BP(i):
Live Your Life in Bitcoin, Regardless of Your Employer
Everyday, more and more people are looking for ways to minimize their reliance on the current financial system in exchange for a taste of the future. With the current methods, users have to rely on the inefficient banking systems to act as a conduit between the traditional sector and the digital sector. Now, with BP(i), you can live within this modern digital ecosystem without interfacing with a banking intermediary. From as small as 1% to as large as 100% of your paycheck, you can now live the way you want to live. Whether you are a new user looking at Bitcoin as an investment or you are looking for a way to move into the next generation of financial systems, now you can live your life in Bitcoin.
Unbanked and Underbanked Now Have a New Way to Get Paid
Through BP(i), the unbanked and underbanked in the United States now have a way to access modern financial tools, regardless of their employers.
There are over 10 million unbanked residents in the US alone who either cannot keep a minimum balance to establish a bank account or do not trust the banks in general. Without bank accounts, this segment of the population are forced to deal with the fees and friction associated with the check cashing and prepaid cards industry. In 2012, Green Dot, a major prepaid card player, reported that there were more than 4.2 million active cards and $16.1 billion in gross dollar volume of funds loaded onto their cards that year. Netspend reported 2.1 million active cards with $11 billion in gross dollar volume. The costs associated with prepaid card include initiation fees, monthly fees, POS fees, cash withdrawal fees, balance inquiry fees, transaction statement fees, customer service fees, bill payment fees, fees to add or load funds, dormancy fees, fees to get remaining funds when closing the account and overdraft fees. On average, the fees on prepaid cards cost the unbanked and underbanked up to $30 a month depending on the card. In addition, there were over $31 billion in overdraft fees last year in the US alone. These costs are just for the ability to hold and send money.
With BP(i), unbanked and underbanked now have a new opportunity to have access to these basic financial tools without all of the exorbitant costs related to the traditional financial system. Although Bitcoin payroll may initially act as an investment vehicle due to its volatile nature, as the ecosystem evolves and provides new tools to hedge against the volatility of Bitcoin, BP(i) provides new avenues to provide financial relief to those that need it most.
Receiving International Contractor Payments Just Got Way Easier
Over 2.6 million full-time jobs are outsourced from the United States alone. Millions of freelancers contract for companies in US and Europe from other countries, many of them without a reliable banking network or wire-transfer capabilities. Even after international contractors are paid, after all the delays, transfer fees and conversion fees (which total to about 8% on average), their local currency can be quite volatile and not a good store of value, such as the Ukraine Hryvnia, which lost over half its value against USD during 2014).
What do citizens of countries with high (and under-reported) inflation rates such as Ukraine, Argentina and Venezula do to store the value of their wages? They exchange their local currency for dollars as soon and as often as possible. They often have to deal with currency controls and/or a real shortage of paper dollars in their region, and thus resort to doing business with back-street money changers, who charge a premium for their services, say 8 Argentinian Pesos for a Dollar, instead of the official rate of 5 Pesos.
With the creation of BP(i), receiving international contractor payments is as easy as receiving Bitcoins. Use Bitwage to accept the payments in the US, thereby reducing costs for both you and your employer, and have Bitcoins sent straight to your wallet. By the end of the year, we will be offering fully transparent international payments between the US and the Philippines. This service will be expanded to other countries in early 2015.
As we enter Beta, we will initially be keeping BP(i) and Automatic Zero-Click Bitcoin Payrolls free. Charges may apply for features such as non-automatic payrolls with Wire, ACH Debit, and Bitcoin, as well as 1099 Filings and Capital Gains Filings.
