How to Make Your Own Cryptocurrency Trading Bot: Bitcoin ...

Paying users Dash to market make

To the awesome Dash community,
A while back we implemented a Gold/DASH and Dash/Bitcoin pair on vaultoro.com. To help add liquidity, we recently added a negative trading fee for the DASH/BTC pair for people making that market. That means if you place an order in the order book and someone takes that order then you get paid 0.05%.
I'm putting this post here to remind the community that we need help to make the market liquid. We are willing to pay the people to do that. Dash is one of our favourite projects and communities, hence the only other coin listed outside of bitcoin. Dash deserves liquid markets because we want people to feel comfortable buying and using it. For this reason, we have done everything we can to incentives people to add liquidity, and now we need your help to actualise it.
There are great trading opportunities arbitraging with less liquid markets like ours as a market maker.
Also, please let me know if you have any feedback.
Our API is also live so if you have a bot let us know what bot you use so we can look at how to integrate.

Best,
Joshua Scigala

Patch Notes 2.0.0

Hello lovely Mangaswap community!

In the short one month since the last set of patch notes, we have grown from a sub with less than 10,000 members to one with 50,000 members and counting! With the incredible growth the sub has been experiencing, we have made some much needed changes. Without further ado, here are all the changes that have been made.

Mangaswapbot

The biggest (and most time consuming) change that has been made as of late is the development of our very own Mangaswapbot!
Features:
There are still some minor functionalities in development. These include:

Rule revisions

Clarification on rule enforcement and punishment:
Since it’s not clear as to how strict/lenient we are with the rules, we figured it would be good to clarify. For most rules, we will stick to a 3 strike system. Upon violating a rule the first time, you will receive a warning. If you violate a rule a second time, you will again be warned. If you violate a rule a third time, you will be permanently banned. We believe our rules are extremely clear and it’s in the best interest of the community to remove those who can’t follow them.
Exceptions to the 3 strike system include rules 1, 4, 5 , and 6. Rule 1 is at the discretion of the moderators. Any heavy levels of harassment and/or derogatory comments will most likely result in an immediate ban as we don’t tolerate the mistreatment of our wonderful community. Rule 4 and 6 will likely only warrant a single warning as a repeated offence essentially has to be intentional. Finally rule 5 is also at the discretion of the moderators. Asking for Bitcoin, Cashapp, etc. will warrant a single warning if we believe it was out of ignorance, however, if we feel the intention is to scam, a ban will be issued immediately.
  • The order in which the rules appear has been altered for better flow.
  • All posts must now follow the proper title formatting specified under the “Posting Format” section of the sidebar.
  • Rule #3 (updated) - "All selling posts must include prices and pictures. G&S fee must be included in prices.
  • The “70% of MSRP price cap” and “buyers must list prices” were swiftly removed from rule 3.
  • Although we do permit the sale of h-manga and dōjinshi, anything depicting “loli” is banned as it violates Reddit’s ToS.

Posting revisions

  • Monthly trade threads will now be locked 3 days after the newest month’s trade thread is posted.
  • The weekly Q&A thread will now be bi-weekly.

Sidebar revisions

  • We added a mangaswap specific scammer list under the “Important Links” section of the sidebar.
  • On old.reddit, the mod mail button was altered to be largemore visible.

Aesthetic revisions

The community banner has been updated on all platforms. In case you missed it, mari-moth was the winner of our banner contest! Her wonderful banner is the new banner on the new.reddit and reddit mobile UI. We went ahead and designed a fresh new banner ourselves for old.reddit users.
Trade flairs have been updated! The new flairs are as follows:
  • Brown book: 1-4 confirmed trades
  • Red book: 5-9 confirmed trades
  • Orange book: 10-14 confirmed trades
  • Yellow book: 15-19 confirmed trades
  • Light green book: 20-24 confirmed trades
  • Green book: 25-29 confirmed trades
  • Cyan book: 30-34 confirmed trades
  • Blue book: 35-39 confirmed trades
  • Purple book: 40-44 confirmed trades
  • Pink book: 45-49 confirmed trades
  • Bronze book: 50-59 confirmed trades
  • Silver book: 60-69 confirmed trades
  • Gold book: 70-79 confirmed trades
  • Platinum book: 80-89 confirmed trades
  • Black book: 90-99 confirmed trades
  • Rainbow book: 100+ confirmed trades

Misc

If you need to contact the mods for any reason, please feel free to send us a mod mail. Please do not send any of us PMs/DMs in place of mod mail. Any PMs/DMs sent to us regarding moderation will be ignored.

Future plans

At this point in time, the only future plans we have is perhaps making some aesthetic revisions to both old.reddit and new.reddit/mobile.
We are considering adding a “leaderboard” purely for fun. It would show the top 5 or 10 users based on their trade counts in the monthly trade thread. Let us know your thoughts on this!

Closing notes

To the experienced users out there, if you have the time to spare, please take a moment to check the bi-weekly Q&A threads to help answer questions. We would like to make the Q&A thread more inviting to new users and have a larger diversity of input. As of now, most of the questions are answered by the mod team.
If anyone has any comments, questions, or suggestions on anything we implemented or if we forgot something, feel free to let us know. We take each and every suggestion into careful consideration. Remember, we are here for you, the Mangaswap community!

Best Cryptocurrency Multi-Exchange Trading and Portfolio Management Platforms Ranking 2020

Best Cryptocurrency Multi-Exchange Trading and Portfolio Management Platforms Ranking 2020
Trade on multiple exchanges from a single platform and avoid the hassle of multiple logins, different interfaces, constant tab changing and overall keeping track of balance holdings and trades.
https://preview.redd.it/ksar6fkxmfv51.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8629b0f29aefd9546d816413cc82de9656ef7f9
With more than 300 cryptocurrency exchanges today, most traders have to manage multiple exchange accounts.
The need for more than one account usually rises because of the variety of offered crypto currency pairs, market liquidity, having to diversify the risk of being hacked, as well as the different trading tools and terms each exchange offers.
Trading and keeping track of your portfolios on multiple exchanges is time consuming, inefficient and frustrating. Having to log on different platforms, use different interfaces, keeping track of multiple portfolios and all trading related activities become increasingly difficult with each new account.
It would be simple and easy if you could connect all those exchange accounts into a single multi-exchange platform which combines all the data in real time and provides a single interface to control all remote exchange accounts.

Multi-exchange platforms

A multi-exchange platform allows the traders to connect all their exchange accounts into a single account through the user of API keys generated from the account of each exchange.
Once all accounts are connected into a single one, using the exchanges interfaces becomes obsolete. The unified account will now track and combine all portfolios and traders will be able to track prices, order statuses and other data across all exchange accounts from a single interface.
In addition, most multi-exchange platforms provide various information tools such as news aggregators, sentiment tools, arbitrage matrix and price alerts.
With regards to API keys security, these platforms do not require withdrawal or deposit permissions which limits the possibility of fraud and loss of funds.
Finally, multi-exchange platforms do not typically charge additional trading fees and do not require lengthy verification procedures.

The current top platforms

Currently there are a handful of multi-exchange platforms with a variety of services. They range from a simple crypto portfolio tracker to an advanced trading and portfolio management platform. Public APIs to download historic Bitcoin candlestick data

Hi Everyone,
I've seen a lot of interest from people in this group to access historical Bitcoin candlestick data. To help everyone out, we've made all of our candlestick data public. That means you can access everything we have here:
https://developers.shrimpy.io/docs/#get-candles
You don't need to sign up for an account or anything. The data is completely public for use. Just call the endpoint in your browser to test like this:
https://dev-api.shrimpy.io/v1/exchanges/binance/candles?quoteTradingSymbol=USDT&baseTradingSymbol=BTC&interval=1H
Try a few different pairs, exchanges, and candlestick sizes - I think you will find it pretty exciting! You can of course plot this data as well. We have some examples of how to plot candlestick data here.
I'm happy to answer any questions if you have some. Looking forward to hearing your feedback!
We also have endpoints for live order book snapshots, market data, trade websockets, and more. You can find our full guide on how to make a crypto trading bot (with all these different data endpoints) here.

[META] PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING!!!! Rules v3.0 & the Introduction of Your New Overlord!

Hey, /pmsforsale! It's time to update the rules again. The entire point is to make this community better and safer for everyone involved.

NEW RULES v3.0!!!

With the addition of a new shiny bot (SuperShinyBot), we figured it was time for some new rules.
First, "Trade completed!" is the new call to get points. Your flair will now look something like: "S: 129 | B: 0". Where "S" stands for trades as a seller, and "B" stands for sales as a buyer. There are three different colors (if you're on old reddit). Red, silver, and gold. These colors only apply to your seller points. If you have <10, you're labeled red, even if you've done hundreds of transactions as a buyer. This means to proceed with caution. 10-99 is silver, which means you're a regular, and gold is for 100+. Really, red is the important one.
Please note that it is "Trade completed!" We are changing that, because we only want you to initiate the bot after the buyer has received their goods, and is happy. If you’re caught abusing this, we will hand out a ban.
Here's an example of how it would work:
  1. Buyer comments in WTS post
  2. BuyeSeller reach agreement
  3. Buyer Pays
  4. Seller ships
  5. Buyer messages Seller when package arrives/is happy
  6. Seller comments on Buyer's comment with "Trade completed!"
  7. Buyer and Seller leave Feedback
The most common question that will more than likely be asked: But what about the last two years? Do I get points for that??? No. Why? Let's pretend like those two years never happened and that this is a new sub, okay? Thank you! Realistically, I'm paying out of my pocket for this bot, and on top of that, it could easily be manipulated anyway. Yes, it sucks. You, like me, would have many more points if he was working for the last two years.
Older user's points were automatically converted to seller points. I am aware that this is a flawed system, but if you've been here for the last two years and you haven't scammed someone yet, then chances are you aren't going to. But as always, proceed with caution.
Secondly, in three to six months (this hasn't been decided yet), there are going to be major rule changes. I'm not going to go into detail, but the changes are to prevent scammers. But one thing I can assure you? You're all going to hate them. Start forging your sharpest pitchforks.
Third, posts have to start with [WTS], [WTT], or [WTB]. All others will be automatically removed by your new overlord. This is because he is setup to award buyer and seller points based on this tag. Cancer-Cheater, what about [META] posts? Well, they'll be removed. Send a PM to the mod team, and we will respond and if we feel it is appropriate, we will approve it.
Why all these rule changes?? Because I'm fucking lazy, and want SuperShinyBot to do the heavy lifting.
Fourth. No more cross posts! At all! The reason being is that we have different rules and a different system from /coins4sale.
Additionally, once a year, Cancer-Cheater will be creating a post asking for donations to keep this bot running. I would appreciate if you could all support it. I would do PayPal, or silver donations and I'll pay it myself. It looks like it’ll be between $7 and $14 a month.
My sincerest apologies for this taking so long; I'm aware this is long overdue.

With all that said, SuperShinyBot should now be live.

Rules v2.0: (just copy and pasted from the old META post)
Unless it is posted here, any other rule of this sub remain the same.
Rule Changes and Adjustments
New Rules: We’ve decided to allow the selling of bullion related items! A lot of you have asked about it, and we’ve decided it is a good idea. I’m sure this will need some fine tuning, but for now, we are keeping it as bullion related. For instance, capsules, books, albums, or storage. Bullion related items have to be sold along with bullion. We are making this a requirement so /pmsforsale doesn’t become swamped with WTS threads for bullion related items.
Want to Buy [WTB] posts: You can now only post one WTB post every 48 hours.
Want to Sell [WTS] posts: WTS posts are to be made ONCE every 48 hours. For clarification, when your last WTS post reads “submitted 2 days ago by XXXX”, that means it has been 48 hours. If you have more items for sale, please update your flair if it hasn’t been 48 hours. Since this has been an issue as of late, if you post another WTS/WTT thread within 48 hours of your previous one we will remove the new one, and you won’t be able to post another for 48 hours from the time that your new thread was posted. Repeat offenders will be handled on a case by case basis.
Proof Pictures: For every WTS thread, you are required to provide at least one proof picture. This proof picture has to have a handwritten note with today’s date AND your username. We know it can be a hassle, but even if you posted two days ago, you have to post an updated photo.
RULE CHANGE: For now on, unless the item is sealed, for example, a tube of coins, we are asking that you remove them from the tube for the proof picture, and for sealed tubes, we ask that you place it on its side when taking a picture, so we know there are coins in it. Same goes for bullion that comes in government packaging (proof eagles, for example).
Want to Trade [WTT] posts: Just like a WTS post, you have to provide a proof picture of all the items you’re wanting to trade, and you can only make one post every 48 hours. The same proof pictures apply to a WTT thread. We do not allow WTT posts of people trading non bullion items for bullion.
Copper Bullion: Because of the interest shown in this lately, we've decided to allow copper bullion.
Rule Change: Copper bullion is now permitted - this includes things like SBSS/Zombucks rounds, copper bars, etc. As before, copper pennies sold in bulk and as bullion will still be allowed. Numismatic base metal coins (cents, nickels, etc.) are still NOT acceptable.
As a clarification, since there's been some confusion all around about this - packaged sets of coins that contain base metal coins alongside silvegold coins ARE allowed. (e.g., proof sets with silver coins, Coin and Chronicles sets, etc.)
Payments: If someone posts a WTS or WTT thread, and they want to accept gift cards, we will allow that. But you cannot post that you have gift cards or other items for trade for bullion. Typical payments are PayPal, Google Wallet, cryptocurrencies, check, cashier’s check, and money order.

Recommended Practices:
Let me start off by saying that these are simply recommended practices, and not rules of this subreddit.
For any transaction, a level of trust is required. Check /pmsfeedback to see feedback for any user you're considering a transaction with. You may also use the flair next to their name in this subreddit - however, understand that this is only an indication of volume of transactions, and does not take into account how the transaction went, only that it was initiated.
Be sure you're satisfied with the security of the deal before sending funds or metals to another user. If you're not entirely satisfied, do not hesitate to ask to use a secure payment method, such as Paypal Goods & Services, or to ask a trusted member to serve as an escrow - or whatever else you deem necessary. If you can't come to terms that make both parties feel comfortable, just wait for another opportunity.
Just as a reminder, the mods of /pmsforsale do not vouch for any particular user or guarantee any transaction. That's entirely between the parties of any particular deal, so be sure you do your own due diligence and make sure YOU are comfortable with any risk you choose to take. While the overwhelming majority of transactions that have taken place here have gone off without a hitch, remember that all transactions here are done at your own risk.
Suggested layout for creating a WTS or WTT listing:
This is a general guideline and not a necessity.
Proof Picture:
Provide a clear proof picture with your username, today’s date, and all the items you are selling or trading. Also include plenty of close up shots if you feel it is necessary. Precious metal buyers like to know exactly what they’re getting, and clear pictures will help in preventing any issues. [Imgur](www.imgur.com) is the most popular image hosting site on /pmsforsale, and simple to use.
Payment Options: List your payment options – PayPal Goods & Services, PayPal Friends & Family, Google Wallet, Bitcoin, other cryptos, or what you’re looking for to trade.
Items For Sale or Trade:
List each item you have for sale or trade, along with the price after it, unless you’re looking for offers. If there is anything worth nothing about the item (condition, rarity, etc), put it here.
Shipping:
Make sure you state if your prices include shipping, or if it is separate. If separate, state how much shipping will be, and where you’ll ship to. Also mention who covers the insurance cost if you offer it.
Helpful Hint:
Printing a shipping label is easy, and cheaper through PayPal. This link to PayPal takes you directly to set up a shipping label. Anything under 13 ounces can be shipped via USPS First Class Mail with free tracking.
Thanks to spockdad, here is a wonderful video on how to securely package your items to ensure it arrives safely to the buyer!

Predicting Bitcoin Price with Machine Learning and K-Clustering Unsupervised Learning

Predicting Bitcoin Price with Machine Learning and K-Clustering Unsupervised Learning
I'm trying for some time now to develop a neural network that can predict bitcoin prices. Bitcoin is a great asset for such an experiment because it has fewer fundamentals than the other stocks or derivatives and it relies more on technical analysis than other assets. Nevertheless, it is impacted from time to time by the news and other events in the crypto-world.

I am working with TF (tensorflow) + Keras and LSTM (Long-Short Term Memory) cells to try and predict future prices.

If I let the network guess freely, from some point onwards, without feeding the price of the tick before, the predictions look like this:
blue- real price / red-prediction (without feeding price at every tick)

blue- real price / red-prediction (without feeding price at every tick)
If i adjust it at every point in the dataset (feed the price of the tick before), it is needless to say that the graph of predictions is way more precise:

blue- real price/red- prediction (with feeding the price of the tick before)

There are few steps I would like to take to improve this

  • Factor in Technical indicator (BB, Ichimoku Cloud, SAR, etc...
  • Place a factor for fundamental analysis in the dataset (for example, a score for the positivity of the news at that specific tick (0=bad news for btc, 10=great news)[/li]
  • Collect data from the order books of the largest exchanged and factor in the order book states at every tick
  • Unsupervised learning and K-Clustering to find co-relations between bitcoin and other foreign currency (for example, it might be that there's an inverse relationship between bitcoin and the Yuan (generally when Yuan drops, Bitcoin rises). K-Clustering can find such relationships
  • Merging all of the above into a trading bot that aims for around 30%-40% return a year

Does anyone pursue such a goal? If yes, would you like to share the accumulated knowledge/ideas? :D
This is a serious project and currently, only me and two of my partners are involved in it, but we could sure use some more man-power. I'd also like to know if someone would like to fund such a venture and get involved.

Cheers to you all!

Lessons learned - Crypto and Divorce - In January I was a millionaire thanks to BTC, then my wife divorces me and now I have $30,000 AMA

Crossreferencing u/nanoissuperior He wrote earlier today: https://www.reddit.com/CryptoCurrency/comments/a3n6uw/in_january_i_was_a_millionaire_thanks_to_nano_now/
Title: In January I was a millionaire thanks to Nano, now I have $25,000 AMA

I was replying to his post, but my reply ended up being a bit too large as a reply and steered off-topic, albeit an interesting one. So I decided to make it its own post, because there may be a good lessons to be learned and hoping some will come forward with good information to be shared.
I hope it can help anyone on this sub avoid the costly mistakes that I made. Here it goes: FLAIR: LEGAL (not in the list)
----
u/nanoissuperior are you who I think you are? I won't give out any further identifying clues, but I happen to know someone in the exact same position that could have written that exact same headline. If you read the first paragraph, you'll know if you know me.
The person I know bought Nano really early, based on a tip from a friend. I got in much later. By the time he told me it had already spiked to the $5 range, when I ended up buying. I then sold in the $20's so it was a good buy nonetheless. We were former colleagues at a large, large software company somewhere in the PNW, I left the company to venture out on my own and try to launch some projects I had in mind and relocated overseas for a few years. We lost contact with each other during my time away, but we connected again during the market runup and started exchanging coin information on a daily basis during the big bull run of late 2017. That was a crazy time.... the market trend was a few degrees short of vertical for pretty much all coins!

Hey, guess what? Now that I think about it, I could have written that same headline myself! In January 2018 I was a Millionaire too! Not with Nano, but thanks to purchasing a good chunk of Bitcoin in 2011 at $1.20 each. I ended up a single digit millionaire with what I had left in Bitcoin around January of 2018.
And, just like you, today, from all that wealth, I have about $30.000 left, with little to show for. Can we call that even? Although my disaster was not caused entirely by market fluctuation; Mine is a more complex story and I am going to mention it, because hopefully, it could serve as a lesson to be learned for any crypto holder out there, so they don't make the make mistake I made: Don't trust anyone. Always be skeptical and watch out for your own interests. Anyhow, here it goes:
After 5 years overseas, I had enough and wanted to come back to the States. My wife stated her preference to stay abroad, but eventually, she conceded albeit reluctantly. We chose a small town in CO to settle, and landed in November of 2017. We had plans to settle down and considered purchasing a home with my/our new fortune, based on the market price during that period. At the same time, I was also hesitant about the inherent tax payments due caused by such large liquidation. I was trying to have to pay taxes as far away as possible. So, I decided to wait till New Year's Eve and started liquidating my crypto on January 1st, 2018 right after midnight. This way, I would have 16 months (till April, 2019) to pay any capital gains taxes, and I was confident at the time that the market would give me that for free, especially at the pace that it was going. I have been an early adopter and have since then acquired the high levels of verification and trading limits per week, with many exchanges, but for a large sum like this, I needed several separate transactions, over the course of several weeks, especially wanting to do it with a US-based exchange that was linked to a US bank accounts, to avoid overseas wire transfers, meaning more fees. (Yes, I did look at all OTC options, but for reasons not relevant to the story, I couldn't make it happen, so I had to use the traditional Exchange channels for asset liquidation).
My wife and I, initially had some fundamental disagreements on the gross amount to be spent and the type of property we should be purchasing. I wanted a smaller place, with a denser, younger community, where there'd be kids our son's age for him to play. She insisted that we should go big; we had been traveling for so many years, and we had not been able to call any of our past residences our home. It was time to settle and nest; She convinced me that we should own a property of our own that we would be proud of living in for years. One that we could own outright and would not easily outgrow. We ended up splurging and purchased in cash two luxury cars for ourselves and set our sights on a large dream house in the city's Golf & Country Club, free and clear, for us and our two kids. I don't even play golf, nor do I even like it, but, if it makes her happy and it is within the safe margins of making it happen, I figured, why not? My concerns were largely financial and the numbers were adding up. It was a bit tight against my personal safe margins, but, at the same time, I was imagining to never have to make, or even have to think about, a car or home mortgage payment ever again! Bitcoin is on a roll and there is no sign of it stopping. Fine. Let's do it, before I change my mind.
Now, I admit I was extremely lucky with choosing the time of when to sell the assets. I had no clue the market would take a dive in February, and so it seemed to many that I had timed the market perfectly, selling most of my coins in the first two weeks of January of 2018. Many called me a genius for selling at the very top, as if I had some sort of wisdom to know when it would drop; the truth is much less flattering; it was nothing but dumb luck, based on me wanting to pay taxes in 2018 and defer to 2019. Awesome, well done! Yeah? well, slow down, son, not so fast.
So, I gather the 7-digit lumpsum in January 2018 and we write a check for the full amount at closing in February on the property of her dreams. A property that could easily be showcased on a luxury Real Estate magazine cover. Also, remember we had just moved back to the United States with just a few suitcases each from overseas. We had no furniture, kitchenware, curtains, TV's, bed sheets, winter clothing and so many other essential things that one usually purchases over time, but which we now had to purchase all at once. Not a problem, Bitcoin had dropped slightly but still well above $15k, I believe, at the time. And, earlier, in January, I had diligently taken this expense into account and effortlessly set aside a small fortune for equipping such a large house with everything we would ever need, brand new. It seemed we were protagonists of one of the Home Makeover Shows.
Finally, after working day and night, prepping the house non-stop for days and when every piece of furniture had finally arrived, been unpacked and carried to its corresponding room, it seemed most of the essentials were in place and the hard work was done. I longed for pouring myself a Scotch and to finally sit down and enjoy the fruits of my labor. I head downstairs to the dedicated walk-in, cigar-humidor / wine / Scotch cellar in the basement and grab the better bottle of Whisky of the few bottles of Scotch that I had bought earlier in the week. On my way up, I remember feeling a sense of calm, combined with a glow of excitement and this undescribable profound inner peace, all at once. This was such a rare, natural, non-drug induced high that I had never experienced. It felt so good! This sense of accomplishment of achieving that one thing I had been chasing and longing for my entire life. I had expected I would be chasing this goal for the next 15-20 years, and yet, here it was. No, where I was, was even better than expected! A place where not even my parents, who still have to make their monthly mortgage payments. I had done it! With a smile from ear to ear, I take a deep breath of relief and while looking around the property, I think to myself: "It's perfect, everything is in place and I can finally call this our home. We are so lucky and we are going to live a great life. A life that few can only dream of. So many concerns will be lifted and become redundant. Everything will be better. I'll start a fire in one of our two fireplaces and I am going to begin enjoying my semi-retired life with the first sip of my drink. That will be the official start of our new life".
I head over to the kitchen to get a glass and some ice cubes, while I struggle to find which one is the freezer among the many drawers in the kitchen. It was then when I notice a handwritten note placed front and center on the kitchen counter. It is from my wife and read: "There is no easy way to say this, so I am just going to say it..... I want to legally divorce [ ...]". It continued saying that she had taken our son, and had unequivocally decided to leave me. She had already filed the paperwork for divorce and that I should expect to be served in the morning.
My bliss had lasted less than 5 minutes and in less than two seconds, it turned dark, somber and I saw it all crumbling down in front of me. Like a long-awaited rocket launch, years in preparation, which then unexpectedly explodes on the launch pad during the countdown. My stomach, heart and everything in my body just sank and melted into one ball of poison in my core. I felt like throwing up. I was completely blindsided; she had played the game all along, not giving me the slightest hint of what was being concocted in the background. She had already engaged with her lawyers weeks beforehand. Her mother was already in town from another state to help out with I don't know what. I had been gaslighted and was threatened by her that I needed to see a psychiatrist due to a change in my temper that I had supposedly developed - my temper was awesome: with BTC at that price? Everything was perfect! But I obeyed and went anyhow (this would later fit her story that she had to leave with the child because she feared for her safety due to my supposed temper for which I was under treatment, therefore, I must have this temper problem, see?). Also, the purchase of the overpriced home also seemed clearly premeditated: Price was the main driver of the decision making; not location, demographics, taxes, etc. It was the wrong neighborhood for us (people much older than us, retired, golfers and no kids the same age as our son to play with). Our house happened to also be the most expensive in the neighborhood. I can see it all so clearly now.
See, your crypto coins on the blockchain, are not within the US court's jurisdiction (or, at least, it's quite debatable - a gray area - ask me for the seed and I can tell you that I may have the seed, or that I may not have the seed, I may have the wrong seed, I may have forgotten it, I may have lost it - you can't prove I did not forget, or lost it, etc). However, once it is in FIAT in a bank, or invested in a property, the courts can rule on the asset(s), freeze, disburse or order a sale of the property, etc. It's done all the time.
Also, the coins were technically mine, and by definition private property (not to be divided during the divorce) as they were acquired before the marriage. I could not prove its origins (I bought many of them via direct messaging members on Bitcointalk.org and mining rather than exchanges, so no records, receipts or nothing to prove otherwise: the big exchanges like BitStamp and Coinbase didn't start operations till 2013, if I m not mistaken. Instead, I would talk to one of the forum members offering coins we'd agree on a price, I'd send a check to wherever the individual seller instructed me to (Russia, Bulgaria, Japan, UK. etc) and the coins would be deposited to whatever address I provided. Yes, it was quite crude at the time.
However, once I converted my coins to cash and used that cash to buy a property for the benefit of the family, it became common property and thus she then had rights to a portion of it when divided between the two parties should a divorce occur - which ended up being almost 3/4 of all assets.
I was robbed in broad daylight. By the one person, I trusted with my life. The one you should trust with your life. Your life partner. And while I was in complete denial, trying to bargain, I waited too long to obtain good legal representation. When I finally ended up getting a lawyer, I was quite distraught and I clearly did not do the proper research and this resulted in a less than stellar performance and detrimental to me at many key steps in the process. I had to switch legal representation right before mediation and I can't blame my new lawyer either, as (s)he did not have the required time to catch up on all the details, (s)he did his/her best, but I was ultimately strongarmed into conceding my soon-to-be-ex-wife to let her return to the house, in exchange to obtain 50% of my son's custody, with serious and strict clauses I had to abide by. So, I had to move out, find a hole in the wall in a student apartment, pay my rent and pay our kids pre-school, while she lives grandiose, without monthly payments in the country club, till the house sells, which will likely be in the spring of next year. Nice!
Due to my delay, legal mishandling and somehow every other element in her favor, she inexplicably ended up with around 3/4 of the worth of all assets, free and clear, no taxes due. Mind you, she has never financially contributed, nor made a single $ during our entire marriage. She has never worked and had $0 in her pocket when we married. She didn't even have a checking account, well in her thirties. She is no dummy; she is street smart, knows how to manipulate people, get her way with flirting and charm, while I am more intellectual and book smart. and She beat me hands-down. She is walking away with a sum of, not quite 7 figures, but close.
With what I am left with from the sale of the house, I am responsible to pay for all the capital gains taxes from the liquidation to the IRS, which are due in April 2019. I don't expect there to be more left over than the estimated $30k mentioned above.
Hate the market all you want, I made peace with the market and am keeping busy at hating my ex for a while for putting me in the same situation. She tripped me 1 yard before the finish line and pushed me in the prickly bushes, to cross it by herself. Go figure. When I am done hating her, I'll get back to rebuilding my life again from scratch. I am not worried, I have done it before. Just pissed, I was so close and that I was so naive to not see it coming.
Sorry, I am not meaning to hijack the thread, just wanted you to know that others may have lost more than just "free" money; money we didn't really have to work for. We were the lucky ones. It is what I keep telling myself to stop me from jumping off a bridge.
PS - Woah: Sorry for the wall of text; I was just going to write the first paragraph and ended up venting about my current situation. I know, I should take this issue to /depressed, /exes or /whereisthenearestbridgeIcanjumpfrom.
Hopefully, this can be a lesson to those holding crypto and some can learn what NOT to do. I learned the hard way and was left with nothing. Don't be a nice guy. Don't trust anyone with your crypto. Anyhow, I am sure either our vigilant subreddit bot, or one of the mods will remove my post for not adhering to rule, and if not, I am sure that you fine people will downvote me to hell. Go ahead. Take away from me the little Karma I left too! Thanks!

I learned many lessons, but here are some key ones [IANAL - any crypto-educated AL opinion appreciated here, thanks] :
- Understand the concept of private property - property you acquire before getting married. INAL - this depends on the state legislation, but it is hard to prove with crypto, especially if you obtained your crypto through foreign exchanges, outside of legal jurisdictions, the petitioner might not understand or willing to invest in obtaining subpoenas and requests to businesses operating overseas, as this may result costly.
- Get a lawyer who understands, or is willing to understand crypto, its benefits of being somewhat unreachable and how that can work for you. Don't let them shortchange you with: "well, let's just convert the rest to cash, because that I understand" type of reasoning.
- If you do go to mediation, the above applies as well. This arbitrator or mediator needs to be one that understands the intrinsic details of crypto - for example, during the ATH, I bought 6 digits worth in $USD of Stellar. I used the very first version of the software, supporting Stellar on my hardware device, and put it all in a cold storage wallet somewhere around January. I routinely checked on my coins on the blockchain and they are there. A few months later, I try to access my account and the device returns a different public address, which contains 0 funds. I am still trying to debug this issue with the manufacturer, but the fact is that I was accused of hiding these coins or negligence and was demanded that I paid half of what was lost. or not lost, out of my pocket for money that I didn't have access either. I tried to explain it in the simplest terms, there are risks involved with using first come software. There is no 1800 number, mo tech support. no CEO, no, you can't call the BBB and complain, etc and no one seemed to be able to understand, nor willing to either. It became a huge roadblock for which I had to concede, not cash, but a concession, I was not wanting to concede. The petitioner leaned on the fact that I was either wilfully cheating or stupid enough to lose the coins and managed to create enough doubt in my character and integrity and there was nothing rational I could explain that she, or anyone else in the room would understand. Perhaps mutually contracting a seasoned crypto expert that can offer a neutral view and give his/her opinion might be worth considering. Andreas, where were you when I needed you? :)
- Other examples were some coins I had bought in 2012 and gifted to some of her family's kids. I was holding these, till they would turn 16 for them to pay themselves their college, or so I told them. These coins were demanded back by the petitioner. Ok, I suggested that I would send them, but with a CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY value with a block height of let's say,10 years from now, out of fear that she would spend the coins and the kids would never know (they are toddlers). No one understood what I was talking about, I was made out the crazy one, I gave up, sent her the coins, unlocked and, just as I expected, within 20 minutes of receiving them, she spent $1200 worth of it (for a flight, I think). If you are the only one speaking your language, no one is willing to listen or make an effort to understand you.
- It appears my coins were private property, which means, that I acquired them before the marriage and in case of divorce, if I have not moved them or used them for the common good of the marriage, then they remain mine. However, I liquidated them and cash ended up in my checking account to be used to buy groceries, cars and eventually a house, and it is then that they became common property. Only once they landed in my checking account on which she is named on. It appears that had I taken proper legal precautions with documentation, or a company/trust, where that money would have gone, instead of my checking accounts, elsewhere, I would have still been able to be the legal proprietor of the resulting cash. I can't quite remember the details, but it as something that was explained to me afterward, and I honestly think I just tuned it out, because it made me sick to know I could have held on to my wealth. Perhaps a lawyer can chime in? Again, much of the lack of information and every misstep taken was because of dealing with people that are accustomed to traditional assets and will not deviate from it. Crypto is different and is treated differently. It is so important to know the strengths and weaknesses when going into litigation about something that people don't understand.
- Some more I can think of, but this post is getting way out of hand in size. Feel free to comment/suggest your own and I'll add more to the comments.

Credits to: u/nanoissuperior Thanks for your post, it inspired me to write this one. Anyone, any karma you feels needs to go his way, for providing the source of inspiration, please give to O-OP.

TL;DR: Wife, having contributed $0 during entire marriage, waited until I cashed out all my crypto at the top of the bull market in January 2018, for a nice seven-figure amount, and then immediately divorced me for the money.

Edit: added TL;DR

Do Trading Bots Control The Cryptocurrency Markets?

Do Trading Bots Control The Cryptocurrency Markets?
Supposed You've researched the market price for the coin you want to buy and it is low enough, and you've decided the time is right to buy it. You immediately go to the Binance exchange and place your limit order, hoping that a slight price drop will allow your order to complete quickly.
But wait ... what just happened? After placing your order, you notice another buyer place a large order with a marginally higher price, pushing your order below the queue.
He says "fair enough" as you decide to increase the bid price of your order to keep your order in the queue and once again your order is pushed downwards and new order just appears above your order and before you know it, that attractive pricing opportunity you wanted to take advantage of is gone.
How annoying!
Why did this happen? In other words, Crypto Trading Bots.

Crypto Trading Bots

What Is A Bot?

A bot is an automated trading entity that is programmed to identify market trends and automatically execute trades. Using algorithms, these robot operators can replicate what human operators would do in response to various market scenarios. But crucially, bots can process information and make business decisions much faster than humans. And the bots they just keep improving.
They use a wealth of market data to examine trends, update their algorithms, and eventually make more informed and profitable business decisions.
Today, bots are used in many financial markets by high-frequency traders to exploit small price anomalies. Markets like currencies have undergone a bot revolution in recent years. The days of crowded commercial flats overflowing with merchants yelling "Buy!" and "Sell!" they are gradually becoming a thing of the past.
And e-commerce facilities and rows of computer servers have come in their place as automation takes hold.

Bots And Crypto Markets Are Perfectly Matched

Bots are now proving to be especially popular within the crypto community, from sophistication from free services designed for everyone to more expensive subscription-based bots for professionals.
Crypto exchanges are proving to be the ideal playground for bots to expand their influence:
Unlike traditional financial markets that normally close evenings and weekends, crypto markets are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This makes them ideal for automated trading: humans sleep but trading bots do not.
With some cryptocurrencies now tradable on dozens of exchanges, the abundance of arbitrage opportunities that have arisen can be exploited more efficiently by bots than by traders.
Last year, Bloomberg set the amount of automated Bitcoin trading on some exchanges to 80% of total trade volume. Bots could also be partially liable for the massive price changes we've seen in the crypto markets.
But what is certain is that a large number of exchange order books are being influenced by bot action. And these bots can produce merchants to buy at a higher price or sell at a lower price than they originally intended. It is often the case with limited orders that bots will be the lowest offer and/or demand prices on the market, and largely the rest of the order book.
Also, bots are annoying to deal with! Seeing that your offer is outnumbered almost instantly, and by a robot, not even another merchant, can be very irritating, especially if you place your initial order intending to capitalize on what you think is a 'wrong price' in the market.
Looking at market orders, you can also observe a series of bot orders of insignificant quantities that exist close to the market price, before the initial order of any true important quantity is further from the market. Again, bots are trying to trick you into placing a market order that fills up instantly, but most of which will be filled against the large order at a worse price.

Counter Crypto Trading Bot Activity

It can be tempting to outperform the robots simply by resubmitting your limit order with a slight lowering the price although such a single trade strategy may not significantly harm your end-of-day earnings if you are a serious crypto trader who conducts multiple trades on multiple exchanges every day, these small but frequent annoyances will inevitably amount to considerable long-term loss.
As such, it may be preferable to keep your order at the price you originally intended. If there is at least some volatility in the market, then your order will complete if you are not in any particular hurry, it is also recommended to take a minute to observe the behavior of the order book. Often bot orders will appear and then suddenly disappear, or move around the book due to constant price adjustments being made. By trying to identify bot intentions, you can end up in a more informed position regarding how and when you place your order.
Of course, buying a bot yourself could also help. As more data is collected on the price behavior of various crypto assets, these machines will only evolve further and become even more sophisticated in their business competition.
But whatever you do, being aware of the existence and influence of bots will help you avoid getting carried away by a sub-optimal trading position.

How and why exchanges are manipulating the price in order to capitalize on the new market dynamics

The current market seems to be largely driven not by organic buying and selling, but by exchange driven manipulation of the spot market to exploit the current dynamics of leverage trading. We just saw it again now as they liquidated 3K longs but you can see this pattern of clear manipulation over and over in the last few weeks .
We have seen several forces set an incentive for exchanges to do this:
Some exchanges like Gemini have reacted to all of this by increasing their trading fees by 400%. Meanwhile Bitfinex specifically seems to be using its hefty weight to manipulate the price in order to capitalize on the record number of people using margin to bet.
Both longs and shorts are bets on the price moving up or down and they have a "liquidation price" at which they get liquidated by the exchange, essentially the exchange gets the entire stack they bet with and extracts a high market fee multiplied by the leverage. Since the exchanges know the characteristics of the outstanding shorts/longs, and since volume is low after these pumps or dumps leading to sideways drift, they can essentially engineer movements in price that create income in terms of liquidations. When there are lots of overleveraged shorts, an exchange can pump the price with bots briefly and collect the short position. Same with longs but in reverse, a quick burst of selling pressure.
You can see this in the most recent pumps too on Bitfinex, where 1K buy orders appear out of nowhere after long sideways movement only to be followed by either sideway movement or slow bleed on pathetic volume:
https://i.imgur.com/3YaWVBI.png
https://i.imgur.com/pvpcd7Z.png
Take a look at the most recent pump up to 7K, it instantanously liquidated about 700 short positions:
https://i.imgur.com/3sCLEB8.png
Now this last dump was a laddered 12.5K sell order on Bitfinex that liquidated around 3K long contracts
https://i.imgur.com/znYyUT8.png
Bitfinex tends to be where the big money traders move (their minimum deposit is 10K) so even if each long position was only 0.5 BTC on average they exchange would make a ton of money. If you look at the BitmexRekt twitter feed that shows a running list of Bitmex liquidations with humorous commetary, you will see many >$1 million dollar positions being liquidated during these moves.
This is what all the "Bart" formations we have seen stem from. Its not George Soros pumping Bitcoin for shits and giggles, nor is it the nebolous "whales". They have no incentive to try and pull off PnDs now that it only leads to either sideways movement or decline after the pump. A PnD only works if the delta between the top of the pump end point and dump initiation point is positive, while now it seems to be followed by sideways movement. Those who do want to bet on further upward movements seem to be doing it off the spot market, using margin with futures and perpetuity swaps on Bitmex. This makes the low volume spot market ripe for manipulation, exchanges like Bitfinex and Bitmex have every incentive right now to manipulate the price.
Looking back it seems almost inevitable that this would have happened, that traders would try to replicate the gains they saw by buying and selling on the spot market a few months ago by using increased leverage and derivatives. In December and January there were days where your holdings would increase by at least 20% no matter what you bought. Once you experience those 20% daily gains you don't want to go back to a market where it slowly bleeds down a few percent every week, so people jumped in on high leverage short positions to multiply their profit on those single percent moves down.
For the small time investor there really isn't much you can do to stop this. This is what being part of an unregulated market means, it means that things like wash trading and long/short liquidation hunting is allowed.
All you can really do if you're a trader is look at the current ratio of longs vs shorts on Bitfinex and be aware that once short contracts become too high its possible that an exchange may pump the price to profit on it, while if the longs become too dominant we may see a dump.
Edit: Bitfinex, not Bitfenix.

Get Ticketing -- A Sleeping Giant

Here is an article by an author named Adnan about why Get Ticketing will explode:
https://medium.com/@adnanzzz/the-bullish-case-of-get-protocol-451ad6059f2d
Below is the same article copied and pasted for those who are too lazy to click the link. However, I recommend reading the article from the link instead as it has a lot of graphs, links, and pictures that gives a much fuller picture.

"GET protocol — the sleeping blockchain giant
Bear with me as I try to explain why the GET token is currently the most bullish crypto token in the space. The price surge will be driven by adoption and not just mere speculation. And adoption is already there but will only now start to gain huge momentum!
By the time you have read this blog you will come to see how most other crypto projects lose value in your eyes when you compare it to a project with amazing fundamentals, a project that doesn’t need an “altseason”, driven by mere mindless speculation, to give you nice returns!
Most people in the crypto space have never heard of the GET protocol. This is on one side suprising because there are 191.329 wallet holders to be exact. This means that 191.329 people have used the GET protocol, mostly without even knowing it!
The focus has always been on building a product that works and where there is demand for. Where other projects have focused and spent their funds on marketing in the crypto space (meaning luring in new investors) GET has neglected that part a bit.
Instead they focused their funds on building a waterproof system and acquiring clients who will use the protocol (venues, artists, governments, …). The effect of this is that the price hasn’t been affected by speculation.
The list of artists who use GET-fueled tickets is endless and I have honestly lost sight of everyone who uses it. But to give you an example of adoption, here is a list of some of the artists who sell GET-fueled tickets:

What is the GET protocol and what does it do?
The GET Protocol offers a blockchain-based smart ticketing solution that can be used by everybody who needs to issue admission tickets in an honest and transparent way. The goal of GET protocol is to become the worldwide ticketing standard.
To put it in simple terms: the ticketing industry is plagued by dishonest players. Not only ticket fraud but also scalping are an enormous problem in the industry. Once a ticket sale starts bots buy up the tickets and later sell them for enormous profits.
Fans are sidelined and are forced to buy tickets of their idols for a much higher price. The scalpers, not adding any value in the process, make tons of money at the expense of artists, fans, venues, event organizers, … and everybody who makes the event industry what it is.

This is where GET offers a solution proven to work
The tickets issued on the GET protocol are registered on your phone. This means that only the person in possession of the phone also owns the ticket. Every ticket is unique and is based on a QR code that updates itself and rotates to prevent fraud and scalping.
The tickets are all registered on the blockchain as a mean of transparency and accountability. This means that fans can check ticket authenticity whenever they want. This is also where the GET token comes in play but more on that later…

GET is currently the best adopted microcap
This is a bold statement but it’s not difficult to prove. Whereas other crypto “companies” confuse their investors with a lot of technical words that the average Joe doesn’t even understand and show off with meaningless partnerships, GET is actually changing the ticketing world for the better!
At the moment of writing there are 4 ticketing companies that are completely integrated in the GET protocol, and together have sold many GET-fueled tickets!
These companies currently run on the GET protocol:
Integrating an existing ticketing company is a low investment move (only the GET token is needed) that offers traditional ticketing companies several benefits. That is why I expect many ticketing companies to integrate and GET to scale quickly.

The supply
Some people are scared by the big difference in the circulating supply and the total supply. This is an unneccessary fear. The GET supply is made up of 3 portions:
This means that the circulating supply as it is now can only, ever, lightly increase for the purpose of growth. With the buybacks and burns being large enough the circulating supply will instead keep decreasing at a swift tempo.

GET in times of COVID19
In May Dutch group Di-Rect sold thousands of tickets for an online concert. They used GET’s technology to use a dynamic price setting. This means that fans were given the option to pay whatever they wanted for a ticket. Whoever paid €20 or more had the chance to win a lottery and be present at the concert.
Once the concert starts, whoever bought a ticket, will be able to watch the streamed concert on GUTS’ app. This is yet another proof of the advantages a digital ticket offers. As this was a big succes, the expectation is that more and more artists will make use of GET’s technology.
On 27/05 Dennis van Aarssen, The Voice Of Holland 2019 winner, announced that he will also do a livestreamed performance of classic covers and original music on June 7th. All tickets will be issued through the GET protocol.
GET also offers several advantages in different areas in the fights against COVID19. The right of access being linked to your mobile makes it possible for potential clients to monitor the number of visitors in real time all the time, to apply an automated seating selection which consideres an appropriate distance between all visitors, queue control, booking of timeslots for museums, shops, parks, beaches, … so overcrowding can be avoided.
When an event gets cancelled, whereas with paper tickets it’s sometimes impossible to track who owns the ticket at the current time, with GET’s technology the event organizer can, with one click, choose to make a refund to the current ticket owner, to communicate with him, to postpone the event, …

What more to expect in the (near) future?
There are so many amazing things to come in the very near future so I’ll only focus on a few of them:
Seeing the adoption the GET protocol has, the solution they bring and the enormous potential they have in conquering the ticketing industry, they have been asked by Kakao to join their blockchain “Klaytn”. So GET is an initial service partner of the Klaytn blockchain.
“Kakao’s global public blockchain project Klaytn is an enterprise-grade, service-centric platform that brings user-friendly blockchain experience to millions.”
The choice for choosing to be an Initial Service Provider of Klaytn is based on two aspects. The first aspect is the fact that Klaytn’s blockchain infrastructure is fully business and integration focused, more than any other blockchain in the market.
This results in huge improvements in areas as cost-efficiency, scalability, and data reliability. The second aspect is fueled by the potential of being part of the Klaytn ecosystem.
Kakao is a giant in South Korea. GET will bring its adoption to Kakao’s blockchain and Kakao, with its giant network, in return will open many doors in South Korea. A win-win for everyone involved!
In 2017 Kakao had more than 220 millions users on their messaging and content platform. The last few years the company has been rapidly expanding in other industry verticals.

GET fueled tickets sold for K-pop stars
As mentioned earlier: South Korean ticketing company getTicket will run fully on the GET protocol. They have already deals in line to sell tickets for K-pop stars in their country.
K-pop legend Mr. Won-Kwan Jung, as someone who has a lot of connections in the K-pop world, has joined the GET protocol as an advisor. He is an iconic figure and innovator in the world of K-Pop, owing to the fact that he was one of the three original members of SoBangCha, (or ‘Firetruck’ in English) which is regarded as the first K-Pop group to exist in the world.
In a survey conducted in 17 countries in 2019, around 37.5 percent of respondents stated that the genre K-pop was “very popular” in their country. The survey found that the popularity of K-pop reaches far beyond South Korean borders.
The fact that their idols will be selling GET-fueled tickets hasn’t reached the Korean audience yet. It is still a “public secret”. The news will be released in a directed marketing campaign later this year. You better believe that once the Koreans find out that they’ll be buying GET like hot cupcakes!

Tickets for museums and beaches to be in line with COVID19 restriction measures
With the Corona virus still not wiped out but more under control, many countries are lifting restrictions. This needs to be done in a safe and controlled manner. This means avoiding overcrowding. GET’s technology can and will surely help here.
GET’s system can do all that is needed now for a safe experience. Whether it’s booking a timeslot for the beach, for a museum,… or even for a shop from your home. The system lets the client monitor everything in real time. Someone can that way for example choose to go when there is less crowd. This all while fully respecting the user’s privacy.
The GET sales team has been busier than ever, being in contact with governments, museums, … and the dev team is constantly creating custom made smart ticketing solutions for new costumers. I’m sure we can expect some major announcements in this area soon!

Top tier exchange listings & marketing in the crypto space
The team has confirmed that listing on a top tier exchange has already been agreed. They’re just waiting for the right time to announce it, fitting in their marketing campaign. Besides that, a fiat on ramp exchange will list GET in a short timeframe.
Many projects invested most of their funds in exchange listings and fake volume, creating artifical demand. These exchange listings are almost always accompanied by paying for a market maker. Once the funds dry up (and we have seen this with many projects) delisting becomes a reality and the funds end up being spent in vain.
GET’s exchange listing and marketing campaign aren’t a means to pump the price but have the goal of creating liquidity for the end users (mainly ticketing companies) who will need to acquire a lot of GET from the open market in the short future.

Expansion in several other countries
GET’s business developer Sander:
"I am reached out by ticketing parties all around the world on a daily basis. The main challenge is to vet these parties. The goal of GET Protocol is to be the worldwide standard of digital admission rights and to get there we need to stay extremely lean and flexible in order to scale well.
In that sense we need to be 100% convinced the parties we partner up in this phase have a very high potential of becoming a big player in their respective geographies. From the onboardings we currently experience, we learn to speed up onboarding processes upcoming year."
And when asked how many tickets he expects to be sold in the near future and how many ticketing companies he expects to run on the GET protocol in 5 years time:
"Along the journey, we here at GET and GUTS learned quite a few things. One of them is avoiding to publicly announce ticket sale estimates as the chances are that we shoot ourselves in the foot with that. If we don’t meet our estimates, life sucks and the community will let us know which is fine and rightful, but to be honest for GET nothing to win.
If we meet our goal, it is okay but even then some people members manage to say they hoped for even better. In that sense, whatever we do, we can’t do well enough on that front, so I am reluctant about giving specific numbers (and I don’t have a crystal sphere either!).
That being said, regarding the amount of ticketing companies in 2025, I expect many, in many countries. It’s a matter of time that we can easier offer our products in a whitelabeled manner. Only this week we got requests for more information about our services from Germany, Paraguay, Mexico, UK and Italy and Australia.
This certainly doesn’t always mean a ticketing company could lead out of such a request, but the interest is certainly there. If we keep on doing what we do now, I believe we can boost ticketeers and event organizers around the world pretty soon and let them issue fully digital and blockchain registered tickets, all processed by GET Protocol. If more ticketing companies are onboarded, the amount of ticket sales processed by the protocol will grow exponentially."
Knowing how GET’s team has always been very careful with their promises, I take such statements very seriously. If the past has taught me anything: they’re probably making an understatement. So expect GET to spread its wings in many regions around the world and take the ticketing world by a storm!

Staking & nodes
GET’s blockchain developer Kasper Keunen has announced that a staking model is being developed. This means that you’ll be able to stake your GET. In return a portion of the ticketing fee will be rewarded to those stakers and nodes. So see it as a passive income. You sit down, relax and see it grow exponentionally as GET conquers the ticketing world :)

The end goal is to be an open source protocol
The endgoal of the GET protocol is to become open source. There will be a governance model where changes to the protocol will be determined by GET token holders. That’s why I expect ticketing companies to acquire a lot of GET in time as their revenue relies on the direction of the protocol.
GET will have a role as governance for the project as a whole. Such a role for the token is the most natural in a fully open-sourced environment of the protocol(currently not the case, yet).
As then governance by stakeholders (ticketing companies) with a serious stake in the game as their ticketing revenue relies on the direction/quality of the code to be on point.
As of yet, we do not really assign too much fundamental value to this role for the token (we barely mentioned it actually) as it is still a bit early for it to have serious merit.
So pushing that value of the token now would be a bit false advertising. As we onboard more and more ticketing companies we will develop the governance of the token role more and more!

Why the GET token is set to explode
Now that I’ve covered what the GET protocol is and where it’s going, it’s time to dig deeper in the token. And I have to say that I’ve never been more bullish on anything in my life. This for the simple reason that usage will drive the price to insanely high levels (where speculation isn’t even needed).

Tokenomics
As mentioned above: to have full transparency and accountability (both missing links to make the ticket industry fraud- and scalpfree) all tickets sold are registered on blockchain.
You can compare GET to a gas that is needed to fuel the protocol (every state change of the ticket needs to be registered — for which GET is needed). So for every ticket sold GET is bought back from the open market and burned forever.

GET’s valuation in the (near) future
Bear in mind that this is my own expectation, based on big changes in supply and demand that I will try to explain below. Also keep in mind that I’m not a financial advisor and nothing is guaranteed in the crypto space!
But I will try to explain why I personally believe that GET will be trading at 10€ per token and more in the near future.
As time goes on and more tickets are sold, the demand for GET will keep increasing while the supply will keep decreasing. You don’t need to have a PhD in economics to understand what this will do to the price!

What kind of demand/buybacks can we expect?
As explained above: for every ticket sold at least €0,28 worth of GET is needed by the ticketing companies. Most of this GET is bought back from the exchanges (the money to do this is included in the ticket fee).
Some GET is supplied by the “user growth fund”. This is a fund created to give potential new customers a discount. This is done by subsidizing them a portion of their need for GET so these new customers don’t need to pay the full price immediately. Bear in mind that as time goes by this fund will dry up and all the GET that is needed will from that moment on be bought from the exchanges.
Since the buybacks are based on the amount of tickets issued by the protocol, to calculate what kind of buybacks we can expect in the future we need to look at the ticket sales. As mentioned before there are 4 ticketing companies using the protocol right now (GUTS, ITIX, TecTix and getTicket). Below I will make an estimation of what to expect from them.
GUTS has sold over 400k tickets. From just the deals already signed, over a million tickets would have been sold in 2020. Due to Covid19 most events had to be posponed (not cancelled). In the meanwhile the GUTS sales team hasn’t been idle and has atracted many more customers.
This means that the 1 million tickets number is probably even on the low side. But let’s say a minimum of 1 million tickets will be sold the first year where all events will be allowed again. This means that at least €280.000 worth of GET will be needed in that year.
ITIX sells 2 million tickets a year on average. Once fully integrated they will thus need at least €560.000 worth of GET on a yearly basis.
TecTix, as a new ticketing company, it’s hard to predict what kind of numbers they’ll be running at the start. But given the expertise of the TecTix team I think 200.000 tickets is a safe bet to start with. That would put us on at last €56.000 worth of GET needed/year.
And finally getTicket, a ticketing company based in South Korea. In their case it’s also difficult to make a prediction because they’re new and we have no previous data to rely on.
But judging from the comments made by the team that “everything is bigger in Korea” and that they’ll be selling stadium concerts for K-pop stars (just one concerts can mean over 100.000 tickets sold) I think it’s safe to say that they’ll be selling at least 1 million tickets/year. That would bring their need for GET to at least €280.000 a year.
So if we put this together the 4 ticketing companies will need over € 1 million worth of GET on a yearly basis. Bear in mind that more ticketing companies will keep joining and the existing ticketing companies will keep growing, taking away marketshare from ticketing companies that can’t offer all of the advantages mentioned before.
Based on all of this I, pesonally, would say that €5 million/year in GET buybacks by 2023 is not an unreasonable prediction.

What can we expect from GET’s supply?
Demand for a token means nothing if the supply is unlimited. The best example of the importance of the supply is the recent Bitcoin halvening that got everyone excited.
Before the halvening around 1800 BTC were mined every day. Let’s say that at current prices this was around $16 million worth of BTC per day. The miners obviously have to sell a large portion of this to cover their costs. So even if there are no other sellers, a large number of BTC has to be bought from the market every day just to keep status quo of the current price.
Halvening basically means that the speed at which the supply increases will be halved (900 BTC mined on a daily basis instead of 1800). The supply of BTC will still continue to increase, only at a slower tempo.
Scarcity should be the ultimate goal when investing in utility tokens.
With GET’s utility token things are different: every GET bought by a ticketing company will be burned. Contrary to BTC the supply of GET will thus continue to decrease as time goes on, removing the stacks of those eager to sell.
This is not a dig at Bitcoin by the way as I’m a fan. Just highlighting the advantage an adopted utility token with good tokenomics has over “the king”.
I hope you now understand my expectation that the price will explode. Many holders will obviously not be willing to sell at current prices with such an increasing demand.
As the price is determined by many factors and we don’t know what the price will do exactly, it’s not possible to pin down the exact supply in the future. We do know that it will keep decreasing at a swift tempo unless the price goes parabolic.

Finding the equilibrum for the price
The demand for GET will keep increasing through adoption and the supply decreasing as the used GET are destroyed forever
The equilibrium price and equilibrium quantity occur where the supply and demand curves cross. The equilibrium occurs where the quantity demanded is equal to the quantity supplied. If the demand increases and the supply decreases then the price will rise until it finds a new equilibrium.
Putting a correct marketcap valuation on a crypto project is an extremely difficult task. With traditional companies we can for example rely on the revenue, profit, dividend payments, … to estimate what the company is/should be worth.
In most countries a 5% rental yield is considered a good investment. Of course it’s not fully comparable as these buybacks don’t automatically put money on your account. But they do increase the price and destroy the supply. So I think it’s in a way reasonable to extrapolate this 5% yield to our case.
Having explained why I expect atleast €5 million in yearly buybacks by 2023, that would mean the marketcap should be around €100 million (5% = the buyback of €5 million multiplied by 20).
The current circulating supply of GET is around 13,5 million. The expectation is that the burning mechanism will destroy more than half of that by 2023 (this takes into account an increasing price of the GET token). So let’s round it up to 5 million GET remaining.
A marketcap of €100 million with a supply of 5 million GET would mean a price of €20/GET. This would be an increase of 6566.67%.
Of course these numbers are not set in stone and merely a prediction but if you’ve been reading this blog you have come to understand why I am extremely bullish on the GET token.
I have completely taken the speculation factor or an “altseason” or “fomo” out of the equation and only focused on a price increase driven by an increasing demand and decreasing supply! So the focus is on an organic price growth.
Another great thing about holding a token with mass adoption and guaranteed buybacks is that I don’t have to worry about the price. As the buybacks are a guaranteed thing, the lower the price of GET the more GET is bought back and destroyed forever. So even a price decrease, as contradictory as it may sound, is bullish for longterm holders!

The team makes use of cold storage in order to secure their users’ funds with approximately 95% of all BTC being held in this way. This helps the platform to remain resilient to hacking attempts but can also lead to slower customer withdrawals. In addition, in order to further secure user accounts, Deribit incorporates two factor authentications (2FA), although this function is not enabled by default and must be set up after you login.Furthermore, IP pinning provides additional security by identifying a change of IP address during a session, and terminating it as a result. The platform also allows users to adjust their session timeouts, and the default timeout period for inactivity on an account of one week can be shifted to just one hour.
Despite this, it’s always best practice to only keep funds on an exchange when they are being used for trading. Lastly, Deribit has an insurance fund that is set up to cover the losses of bankrupt traders. The majority of trader positions should be reduced or closed by the platform’s real time incremental liquidation system, however bankruptcies still occur.

Yes. You pick a peer and after some setup, create a bitcoin transaction to fund the lightning channel; it’ll then take another transaction to close it and release your funds. You and your peer always hold a bitcoin transaction to get your funds whenever you want: just broadcast to the blockchain like normal. In other words, you and your peer create a shared account, and then use Lightning to securely negotiate who gets how much from that shared account, without waiting for the bitcoin blockchain.
Is the Lightning Network open source?
Yes, Lightning is open source. Anyone can review the code (in the same way as the bitcoin code)
Who owns and controls the Lightning Network?
Similar to the bitcoin network, no one will ever own or control the Lightning Network. The code is open source and free for anyone to download and review. Anyone can run a node and be part of the network.
I’ve heard that Lightning transactions are happening “off-chain”…Does that mean that my bitcoin will be removed from the blockchain?
No, your bitcoin will never leave the blockchain. Instead your bitcoin will be held in a multi-signature address as long as your channel stays open. When the channel is closed; the final transaction will be added to the blockchain. “Off-chain” is not a perfect term, but it is used due to the fact that the transfer of ownership is no longer reflected on the blockchain until the channel is closed.
Do I need a constant connection to run a lightning node?
Not necessarily,
Example: A and B have a channel. 1 BTC each. A sends B 0.5 BTC. B sends back 0.25 BTC. Balance should be A = 0.75, B = 1.25. If A gets disconnected, B can publish the first Tx where the balance was A = 0.5 and B = 1.5. If the node B does in fact attempt to cheat by publishing an old state (such as the A=0.5 and B=1.5 state), this cheat can then be detected on-chain and used to steal the cheaters funds, i.e., A can see the closing transaction, notice it's an old one and grab all funds in the channel (A=2, B=0). The time that A has in order to react to the cheating counterparty is given by the CheckLockTimeVerify (CLTV) in the cheating transaction, which is adjustable. So if A foresees that it'll be able to check in about once every 24 hours it'll require that the CLTV is at least that large, if it's once a week then that's fine too. You definitely do not need to be online and watching the chain 24/7, just make sure to check in once in a while before the CLTV expires. Alternatively you can outsource the watch duties, in order to keep the CLTV timeouts low. This can be achieved both with trusted third parties or untrusted ones (watchtowers). In the case of a unilateral close, e.g., you just go offline and never come back, the other endpoint will have to wait for that timeout to expire to get its funds back. So peers might not accept channels with extremely high CLTV timeouts. -- Source
What Are Lightning’s Advantages?
Tiny payments are possible: since fees are proportional to the payment amount, you can pay a fraction of a cent; accounting is even done in thousandths of a satoshi. Payments are settled instantly: the money is sent in the time it takes to cross the network to your destination and back, typically a fraction of a second.
Does Lightning require Segregated Witness?
Yes, but not in theory. You could make a poorer lightning network without it, which has higher risks when establishing channels (you might have to wait a month if things go wrong!), has limited channel lifetime, longer minimum payment expiry times on each hop, is less efficient and has less robust outsourcing. The entire spec as written today assumes segregated witness, as it solves all these problems.
Can I Send Funds From Lightning to a Normal Bitcoin Address?
No, for now. For the first version of the protocol, if you wanted to send a normal bitcoin transaction using your channel, you have to close it, send the funds, then reopen the channel (3 transactions). In future versions, you and your peer would agree to spend out of your lightning channel funds just like a normal bitcoin payment, allowing you to use your lightning wallet like a normal bitcoin wallet.
Can I Make Money Running a Lightning Node?
Not really. Anyone can set up a node, and so it’s a race to the bottom on fees. In practice, we may see the network use a nominal fee and not change very much, which only provides an incremental incentive to route on a node you’re going to use yourself, and not enough to run one merely for fees. Having clients use criteria other than fees (e.g. randomness, diversity) in route selection will also help this.
What is the release date for Lightning on Mainnet?
Lightning is already being tested on the Mainnet Twitter Link but as for a specific date, Jameson Lopp says it best
Would there be any KYC/AML issues with certain nodes?
Nope, because there is no custody ever involved. It's just like forwarding packets. -- Source
What is the delay time for the recipient of a transaction receiving confirmation?
Furthermore, the Lightning Network scales not with the transaction throughput of the underlying blockchain, but with modern data processing and latency limits - payments can be made nearly as quickly as packets can be sent. -- Source

How would the lightning network work between exchanges?
Each exchange will get to decide and need to implement the software into their system, but some ideas have been outlined here: Google Doc - Lightning Exchanges
Note that by virtue of the usual benefits of cost-less, instantaneous transactions, lightning will make arbitrage between exchanges much more efficient and thus lead to consistent pricing across exchange that adopt it. -- Source
How do lightning nodes find other lightning nodes?
Stack Exchange Answer
Does every user need to store the state of the complete Lightning Network?
According to Rusty's calculations we should be able to store 1 million nodes in about 100 MB, so that should work even for mobile phones. Beyond that we have some proposals ready to lighten the load on endpoints, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there. -- Source
Would I need to download the complete state every time I open the App and make a payment?
No you'd remember the information from the last time you started the app and only sync the differences. This is not yet implemented, but it shouldn't be too hard to get a preliminary protocol working if that turns out to be a problem. -- Source
What needs to happen for the Lightning Network to be deployed and what can I do as a user to help?
Lightning is based on participants in the network running lightning node software that enables them to interact with other nodes. This does not require being a full bitcoin node, but you will have to run "lnd", "eclair", or one of the other node softwares listed above.
All lightning wallets have node software integrated into them, because that is necessary to create payment channels and conduct payments on the network, but you can also intentionally run lnd or similar for public benefit - e.g. you can hold open payment channels or channels with higher volume, than you need for your own transactions. You would be compensated in modest fees by those who transact across your node with multi-hop payments. -- Source
Is there anyway for someone who isn't a developer to meaningfully contribute?
Sure, you can help write up educational material. You can learn and read more about the tech at http://dev.lightning.community/resources. You can test the various desktop and mobile apps out there (Lightning Desktop, Zap, Eclair apps). -- Source
Do I need to be a miner to be a Lightning Network node?
No -- Source
Do I need to run a full Bitcoin node to run a lightning node?
lit doesn't depend on having your own full node -- it automatically connects to full nodes on the network. -- Source
LND uses a light client mode, so it doesn't require a full node. The name of the light client it uses is called neutrino
How does the lightning network stop "Cheating" (Someone broadcasting an old transaction)?
Upon opening a channel, the two endpoints first agree on a reserve value, below which the channel balance may not drop. This is to make sure that both endpoints always have some skin in the game as rustyreddit puts it :-)
For a cheat to become worth it, the opponent has to be absolutely sure that you cannot retaliate against him during the timeout. So he has to make sure you never ever get network connectivity during that time. Having someone else also watching for channel closures and notifying you, or releasing a canned retaliation, makes this even harder for the attacker. This is because if he misjudged you being truly offline you can retaliate by grabbing all of its funds. Spotty connections, DDoS, and similar will not provide the attacker the necessary guarantees to make cheating worthwhile. Any form of uncertainty about your online status acts as a deterrent to the other endpoint. -- Source
How many times would someone need to open and close their lightning channels?
You typically want to have more than one channel open at any given time for redundancy's sake. And we imagine open and close will probably be automated for the most part. In fact we already have a feature in LND called autopilot that can automatically open channels for a user.
Frequency will depend whether the funds are needed on-chain or more useful on LN. -- Source

Stack Exchange Answer
Can the Lightning Network work on any other cryptocurrency? How?
Stack Exchange Answer
When setting up a Lightning Network Node are fees set for the entire node, or each channel when opened?
You don't really set up a "node" in the sense that anyone with more than one channel can automatically be a node and route payments. Fees on LN can be set by the node, and can change dynamically on the network. -- Source
Can Lightning routing fees be changed dynamically, without closing channels?
Yes but it has to be implemented in the Lightning software being used. -- Source
How can you make sure that there will be routes with large enough balances to handle transactions?
You won't have to do anything. With autopilot enabled, it'll automatically open and close channels based on the availability of the network. -- Source
